April is Child Abuse Prevention Month. 💙

At The Buckeye Ranch, foster care plays a critical role in preventing further harm and creating safe spaces for children who have experienced abuse or neglect. Foster parents provide more than a temporary home. They offer safety, consistency, and compassion at a time when it matters most.

During Child Abuse Prevention Month, we recognize the individuals and families who step forward to protect children and help them heal. Together, we can raise awareness, strengthen families, and ensure every child has the chance to grow in a safe and nurturing environment.

If you’re looking for a meaningful way to make a difference, consider becoming a foster parent and helping a child take their next step toward healing.

✨ Meet Aliza, a We Raise Hope Foster Parent Award recipient and speaker at A Positive Note 2026! 🎵⭐

Aliza first considered becoming a foster parent while she was still in high school. After watching a close friend navigate the challenges of the foster care system, she felt called to make a difference in the lives of children who needed stability and support.

Licensed with The Buckeye Ranch in 2023, Aliza quickly became known for her dedication to caring for sibling groups and her commitment to nurturing safe relationships and reunification with primary families whenever possible. You can often find her celebrating birthdays and holidays surrounded by both past and present placements, a true reflection of the lasting connections she builds.
As a single foster parent, Aliza has created an extraordinary support system of friends and family who walk alongside her on this journey, wrapping the children in her care with love and community.

Aliza’s story is a powerful reminder of the difference one person can make. She will be joining us on stage on May 7 at KEMBA Live! to share more about her foster care journey during our annual event, A Positive Note.

Our annual fundraiser, A Positive Note, creates impact that lasts long after the lights go down.

It's a night that brings our community together to celebrate resilience, share powerful stories of healing, and help ensure more children and families can access the care they need.

Last year, your support helped make it possible for The Buckeye Ranch to serve 9,219 youth in our community, and we raised more than $375,000. That is real impact, made possible by people who chose to show up and invest in hope.

Now we are gathering again, and we would love to see you there.

What does it mean to provide trauma-informed care, and why does it matter?

It is safe to assume that most, if not all, of the children, youth, and families in our services have experienced significant trauma in their lives. Recognizing this allows The Buckeye Ranch to approach clients with a curiosity of “what happened to you” as opposed to “what is wrong with you.”

There is overwhelming scientific evidence that demonstrates how healthy development can be derailed when children experience excessive and ongoing stress. That’s where trauma-informed therapy comes in.

Trauma-informed care recognizes the widespread impact of trauma and seeks to overcome its effects. We are proud to center trauma-informed care as one of our key Principles of Quality Care at The Buckeye Ranch
