5 realities in recovery (and just in general) that many people face:

1. Empathy and compassion seem to have an expiration date, if people have it at all.

2. You can go through a major operation (or a loss, crisis, etc.) one day, and then be expected to just "get over it" or "be better" the next.

3. Many people are disconnected from their own emotions and experiences and will minimize or dismiss what's uncomfortable-either in themselves or when they're watching someone else go through it.

4. Many people do not have a family/spouse/partner that is supportive, understanding, or willing to help, even in a time of need.

5. Many people have been conditioned to believe that stopping or taking time for themselves is weak or selfish and they don't know how to rest or practice self care in any capacity.

The good news-everything is learned and can be unlearned. Let's create your most Clearly Connected life together. Because, you deserve it.

This isn't a test that you want 100% on. Although this is not an all inclusive list of detrimental impacts on development, the higher your score, the higher your risk of a variety of health challenges in life.

In the words of Dr. Robert Block, the former President of the American Academy of Pediatrics, "Adverse childhood experiences are the greatest unaddressed public health threat facing our nation today."

It's easier to build Clearly Connected children than to spend a lifetime trying to heal as an adult.

I'm proud of everyone that is breaking the cycles, on a number of levels.

The nerve block from surgery has officially worn off which means I have a tremendous amount of heaviness and pain in my hip and leg, but we found the right medication combo and I passed my testing so we are going to be heading home shortly. 🙏

I had such a wonderful experience with Dr. Westrich and everyone here at HSS! I highly recommend them for any of your orthopedic needs!

My honesty, vulnerability and depth are a real annoyance and inconvenience to people that aren't quite ready to live their most Clearly Connected lives. And that is OK.

If I take that away to adapt and make others comfortable again, I take away my true essence. The type of relationships I need in my life to thrive (quality over quantity always), my sensitivity, my heart, my hope for humanity, and my purpose.

Once you are on a path of growth and getting Clearly Connected in any capacity, there is no going backwards, even when you hit those moments that you want to quit. Because you will.

Through all of the trials and tribulations, and just in general over the last decade in my work worldwide, I have had the honor of meeting and working with some truly incredible people. People that have opened their hearts, inspired me, and touched my life on so many levels. On the flip side, I've also had to learn some very hard lessons.

Waking up to reality, separating from your conditioning, meeting the possibilities for your life that were left behind, and connecting to your potential, in a number of ways, isn't always easy. I can tell you that although it's an ongoing journey, it will be worth it in the end.

Thank you for filling my heart with love and support yesterday. I'm not always good at taking it in because of where it's absent in my life. But acceptance is needed for this next level of healing and growth, both personally and professionally. 💕

First one on the roster! ☀️

This morning as I was writing, I was reflecting on turning 47 in a few months. Only 47. It's funny how when we are children that age seems so old, but once we get there ourselves things change.

I was doing the math in my hotel room last night and figured out that more than half of my age in years is equivalent to the number of surgeries and procedures I've had in this lifetime. 14 of them in just the last 2 1/2 years.

I often wonder if this still would've been my path had certain circumstances been different in my life. Something I will never know for sure.

Either way, I am grateful to still be here and to know what I know now.

It isn't guaranteed that I won't need another surgery because of my other conditions, but I'm hopeful and praying that it will be the last one-at least for a while. It's been so much, especially in a short amount of time.

My heart goes out to everyone else out there that has suffered with chronic conditions of any kind. Life is always easier for the people that are not dealing with it themselves. I understand the full toll that it takes and I am here to support you at anytime.

Please keep me and my family in your prayers and to you as well always! I will officially be the bionic woman after this.

Pre-op testing day and the official countdown to surgery. As risky as this is for me because of my other complications, I honestly cannot wait. I've barely slept in months and this bone-on-bone pain is debilitating-on top of everything else.

5 heartbreaking and eye-opening things I've learned and have experienced while fighting chronic, co-occurring conditions and being in and out of surgeries since I was a teenager: ⬇️

1. You can be suffering and in pain, in a variety of ways, and people will still not "see" you or have an ounce of empathy. No matter who it is.

2. They will be more worried about what you are not doing for them versus showing up for you (score keeping). Even when you ask.

3. They would rather mock you, devalue you, smear you, make assumptions, and avoid you over having a real conversation, asking how you are doing or even trying to understand.

4. They are more worried about holidays, get togethers and image over truth and your health and well-being.

5. They expect you to just keep silent, push through and have no feelings or needs like they learned to do.

And that's the key. 🔑

If you can relate, remember that this is not your pain or limitations to carry. And these may not be the people you want in your life either if they continue to cause you harm (even if their actions are not personal).

Not everybody wants to face their impact, take accountability or go where they will learn and grow. Invest your energy into getting Clearly Connected and don't forget to give yourself the love and care you need and deserve.

I wholeheartedly understand how difficult all of this is.
