🌟 Meet Our Team: Emily 🌟

Emily has been working in Caregiving since 2002. When she’s not working, she enjoys being close to home with family and her two cats. Emily loves exploring the outdoors and finding new things to learn about!

• What’s your favorite part about being a caregiver?
“My favorite part about being a caregiver is trying to make the clients’ days better. One way I have done this is by taking the clients into the community. Some places I have taken them to are the Walworth County Fair, S.M.I.L.E.S., Natureland Park, The Illinois Railway Museum, to local restaurants and libraries, and for activities at the main office.”

• What’s something people might be surprised to learn about you?
“I played the violin in school orchestras for 10 years. On occasion, I have accompanied my husband who sings and plays the guitar regularly.”

• What’s a memorable moment you’ve had while caregiving?
“I will often remember the clients telling me about their life stories. I enjoy learning about their hobbies, family, employment, and what their lives were like before coming to live with us.”

Around here, there's never a shortage of creativity. The wonderful house manager, Angela, always makes sure Paul has plenty of fun projects to paint; this time, it was all about wooden race cars 🚗💨

🌟 Meet Our Team: Cyndie! 🌟

Cyndie has been taking care of people for over 40 years, and for the past 3 years, we've been lucky to have her as Caregiver and House Manager here at PALS.

✨ Fun Fact: Cyndie is not only a caregiver at heart but also pretty handy with a toolbox; from roofing and plumbing to drywall and painting!

What does a typical day look like for you as a House Manager?
- With seven clients, I really don’t have a typical day. But it starts out getting organized, paperwork, breakfast, appointments, meetings, helping balancing schedules, lunch, outings, cleaning and dinner. All of it is for the clients. I call it structured “fun”
We do a lot of outings; movies, going out to eat, swimming, fairs, shopping, bowling, picnics, zoo, parks, etc.

How would you describe your leadership style:
- Respect. Just because you carry the title as Manager, you are still part of your team. Lead by example. Communicate and be transparent. I’m not just a “manager” I am their coworker and will work beside them.

🎡🍿It was a fun day at the Walworth County Fair!

We want to give a huge thank you to our House Managers and Caregivers who work hard every day to create meaningful, joyful experiences like this.

Everyone deserves a life full of connection, purpose and fun; outings like this are just one way to bring that mission to life.

☀️We had our annual Summer party a few weeks ago! ☀️There was good food, shaved ice, giant Jenga, a dunk tank, free haircuts by Cyndie, and more! Thank you to everyone who came out and made the day a blast. We’re already looking forward to next year 😎
