The Friends of Hudspeth Center is an organization comprised of parents and friends of the clients enrolled in the program.

The Friends of Hudspeth Center is an organization comprised of parents and friends of the clients enrolled in the institution and community programs of Hudspeth Regional Center. This organization represents consumers of services provided through Hudspeth Regional Center, under the direction of the Bureau of Mental Retardation, Department of Mental Health in the state of Mississippi. The Friends of Hudspeth Center association was organized and held its first meeting 1984. The purpose of the association:

a) To promote public interest in the Hudspeth Center located in Whitfield, Mississippi
b) To inform families of consumers of Hudspeth Center of the programs and activities at Hudspeth Center
c) To advise and aid parents of consumers of Hudspeth Center in the solution of their problems and to coordinate their efforts and activities
d) To promote understanding of mental retardation and the needs of the mentally retarded
e) To encourage volunteer support for Hudspeth Center from civic groups, churches and individuals in the twenty-two counties served by the center
f) To raise funds for projects at Hudspeth Center which will improve the quality of life for the residents

Foster Grandparents held their annual luncheon at HRC on the 16th. Shella Sanders and Melody Hollins elicited the help of Christine Williams to make the Chastain auditorium beautiful. With Human Resources as food servers, Shella and Melody were ready for the many grandparents. With beautiful music from Sissy Hudson and a hilarious bit by comedian Mike Townsend, it was truly a wonderful event.

The marvelous Christmas elves from the Jr. Auxiliary of Rankin County came and wrapped presents for the people served on the HRC campus. They are such special ladies!

Morton Group Home entered its first float in the Morton Christmas Parade and won 3rd place in the Business Division. Good going, Morton! You brought your A game.

Kenneth and Diane Sullivan, of the North Jackson Exchange Club, brought bags and bags of various assorted presents for the people served by Hudspeth Regional Center. The North Jackson Exchange Club has been a tremendous supporter of Hudspeth Center for many years and we appreciate them greatly.

Be prepared to stop on your way to campus this morning. Christmas elves will be out until 8:30 a.m. handing out gifts from the Employee Incentive Recognition Committee (EIRC).

A BIG truck was needed to pick up all the donations from the staff who donated to Toys for Tots. We think Toys for Tots is a great organization and love buying toys for kids!
