Learning how to smile again after Bell’s palsy is both physical and emotional healing. Your muscles can reconnect, your nervous system can form new pathways, and your sense of self can return even if it feels slow.

I see this all the time in clinic. There is a moment when movement begins to come back, even slightly, and hope becomes real again.

If you are in that phase right now you are not behind and you are not alone.

This week’s blog is now up, all about how to smile again literally and emotionally.

One of the hardest parts of Bell’s palsy is losing the smile that once felt effortless. It can feel like a piece of your identity disappeared overnight. The emotional impact is real and deserves space.

This week’s new blog is about learning to smile again both in muscle recovery and in who you are emotionally as you heal. Your nervous system can relearn how to express warmth connection and joy again.

This week we are exploring the relationship between Bell's Palsy and Lyme Disease, a topic that is especially relevant here in New England.

While Bell's Palsy can develop from several different causes, tick born infections are a common factor in our region. Understanding this connection can help guide treatment and improve long-term outcomes.

This week we are exploring the relationship between Bell’s Palsy and Lyme disease.

It is a topic that comes up often here in New England, where tick exposure is common and the two conditions can look almost identical at first.

Ticks do not directly cause Bell’s Palsy, but Lyme disease can lead to facial paralysis that feels the same in the moment. Knowing the difference matters because it shapes how treatment begins and how recovery continues.

Once those first medical steps are taken, healing does not stop there. We focus on helping the facial nerve repair, easing discomfort, and supporting the return of natural movement.

💙 Read this week’s Bell’s Palsy Recovery Series post to learn more about the real connection between Lyme and facial paralysis.

Many people talk about the quiet emotional weight that lingers long after Bell’s Palsy symptoms fade. The uncertainty. The frustration. The wish to simply feel like yourself again.

Bell’s Palsy affects more than just the face. It can touch your confidence, your sense of connection, and the way you move through daily life.

If you are still living with subtle symptoms months or years later, there is support for both the physical and emotional sides of recovery.

This week’s Bell’s Palsy Recovery Series post explores the emotional side of healing and how recovery is about more than nerves and muscles. It is about restoring confidence, comfort, and connection with yourself.

When nerves are injured, they can heal — but sometimes they need a little help.
In this week’s Bell’s Palsy Recovery Series video, I’m sharing how acupuncture, ATP Resonance BioTherapy®, and O3 ReBoot BioTherapy® work together to support faster nerve repair. 💙

When Bell’s Palsy happens, it can feel like your body has stopped listening. Your smile feels uneven, your eye may not close, and every expression takes effort.

What is really happening is that the facial nerve is inflamed and struggling to communicate. The good news is that nerves can heal, and you can help that process move forward.

At South Shore Acupuncture and Wellness, we focus on restoring that connection. Acupuncture helps increase circulation and remind the facial muscles how to move. ATP Resonance BioTherapy® gives the nerve the energy it needs to rebuild, and O3 ReBoot BioTherapy® supports oxygenation and repair.

💙 This week’s post in our Bell’s Palsy Recovery Series explains how these therapies work together to support faster, more complete nerve recovery.

Bell’s Palsy can appear suddenly and turn life upside down overnight.
It is frightening, confusing, and deeply unsettling. One day everything feels normal, and the next, your face does not move the way it should.

💙 If facial droop appears suddenly, always seek emergency care first to rule out stroke. Once that is ruled out, many people learn they have Bell’s Palsy instead.
The good news is that recovery is possible.

This week marks the start of our Bell’s Palsy Recovery Series, a nine week journey of insight, support, and holistic guidance for every stage of healing.

✨ Follow along to learn how we help restore movement, comfort, and confidence through acupuncture, ATP Resonance BioTherapy®, and O3 ReBoot BioTherapy®.
