This is me happily wearing my mask at work. Of the 6 patients I cared for today in the hospital, all but two patients had a respiratory infectious condition (asthma from a cold, bronchiolitis, croup, fever, runny nose etc). Masks work. Shots for the regular colds don’t exist and I sure don’t miss having nasty colds. Stay well and stay home if you or your child is sick.

Over the last several days I’ve read details about the tragedy that took place at the Astroworld Festival in Houston.

This tragic event really hits home for me because my family and I love attending concerts. In fact, we attended two concerts this weekend. In the past, we’ve also taken our children to concerts. I’ve gone to concerts while pregnant. Music is a big part of our lives.

Today I read about a 9 year old boy who is critically ill from injuries sustained at this concert. He may not make it and if he survives he may live with serious health problems. My heart is broken for his family. They may never recover from what has happened to this young boy.

I feel devastated and outraged for the victims and for their families. How could this happen? 50,000 attendees is a whole lotta people. Safety is a priority over anything else! Shame on the concert organizers for not preparing for a safe concert experience! This should not have happened.

My daughters are so happy and relieved to have received their first COVID shot! They made it to their shot without getting sick! 🙌🏼

They’re feeling great. Just a bit of a sore arm.

I’m feeling super grateful to Pfizer-BioNTech and everyone else involved in bringing this vaccine to our community and for making this happen!

We feel so lucky and thankful to be one of the first to receive the Pfizer pediatric COVID-19 shot! My kids and I have been waiting for this moment for such a long time! The vaccine is safe and effective and is the only way out of this pandemic. We will be back in 3 weeks for the booster. 🙌🏼
