Welcome WCMS cardiologists to URPG

United Regional is proud to introduce the United Regional Heart Center, formerly known as the Heart Clinic, at 1631 11th Street. While the name has changed, patients will continue to receive the same trusted care from the same physicians in the same convenient location.

We are also pleased to welcome Dr. André Désiré, Dr. Fardin Djafari, and Dr. Vedampattu Ganeshram to United Regional Physician Group. These long‑time cardiologists will continue caring for patients at their current location. Their arrival expands our cardiology team from one physician to four, joining Dr. Chukwudi Obiagwu, who came to United Regional Physician Group in 2025. Additional cardiology specialists are expected later this year. The United Regional Heart Center provides comprehensive cardiac care as part of an integrated heart program that includes cardiothoracic surgeons Dr. Shahab Akvan and Dr. Patrick Roughneen, as well as Cardiopulmonary Rehabilitation services.

Patients will soon notice updated signage at various locations, reflecting the continued growth of our services. Through these changes, our commitment to excellent, compassionate care remains constant.

Thank You to URHCS for keeping WF safe

When winter weather swept across our region, more than 110 United Regional team members — including nurses, techs, physicians, nurse practitioners, security officers, and other clinical and support staff — stayed multiple days and nights at the hospital — sleeping in hospital beds, sharing small spaces, and doing whatever it took — to make sure our patients continued to receive the very best care. Their dedication is nothing short of heroic, and we couldn’t be more grateful. Thank you!

Congratulations to WCMS physician Andre Desire!

Congratulations to WCMS physician Andre Desire!

Join us in welcoming Dr. André Désiré to URPG!

Dr. Désiré is a board-certified interventional cardiologist.

Dr. Désiré completed his bachelor’s degree at Syracuse University in Syracuse, NY, and his Doctor of Medicine from the State University of New York. He completed his internal medicine residency at the University of Southern California (USC) in Los Angeles, CA, followed by a cardiology fellowship at the University of California in Los Angeles. He then pursued advanced training in interventional cardiology at Good Samaritan Hospital/USC in Los Angeles, CA, where he developed extensive experience in complex cardiovascular procedures.

From an early age, Dr. Désiré gravitated toward the sciences, finding a natural connection to math and biology that ultimately guided him toward a career in medicine. During his training, he discovered a passion for cardiology appreciating its problem solving nature and the opportunity to make meaningful, immediate improvements in a patient’s life. Interventional cardiology resonated with him for its innovation and the real time impact of its procedures.

Dr. Désiré is passionate about providing timely, effective care for patients experiencing acute and complex cardiovascular conditions. He is especially gratified by the rapid relief patients often experience following vascular interventions, whether restoring blood flow during an acute myocardial infarction or treating limb threatening ischemia. He is known for his technical precision, clear communication, and a calm, reassuring presence with every patient he serves. He values evidence based care and remains energized by the continual technological advances that drive the field forward.

Outside of medicine, Dr. Désiré prioritizes staying active and enjoys regular exercise. He has been married for many years and is the proud father of two daughters one a maternal fetal medicine physician and the other an attorney. Having lived in many large metropolitan areas, he especially appreciates the warmth, friendliness, and ease of life in Wichita Falls — where getting from point A to point B never involves big city traffic.

Congratulations to WCMS physician Fardin Djafari, MD for joining URPG

Join us in welcoming Dr. Fardin Djafari to URPG!

Dr. Djafari is a board-certified cardiologist and a Fellow of the American College of Cardiology.

Dr. Djafari began his academic journey at Michigan State University in East Lansing, Michigan, where he earned a degree in physiology. He went on to complete his medical degree at Wayne State University School of Medicine in Detroit, Michigan. He then advanced his training through an internal medicine residency and cardiology fellowship at the UCLA–Olive View program in Los Angeles, California.

Inspired by his father’s example as a family practice physician and driven by a love of science and helping others, Dr. Djafari pursued a career in medicine early on. His interest in the physiology of the heart developed during his undergraduate studies, and mentorship from two cardiologists during residency encouraged him to pursue subspecialty training in cardiovascular medicine. He is excited to bring his commitment to patient care to United Regional Physician Group.

Dr. Djafari’s clinical approach emphasizes clear, relatable communication and a patient first mindset. He strives to make every patient feel comfortable and cared for, treating each individual like family and building trust during times of need. He finds it deeply gratifying to support patients through recovery following major cardiac events and to witness their progress over time. Dr. Djafari serves as the Director of the Heart Failure Program at United Regional, where he leads an expert team providing comprehensive care both during hospitalization and at home. The program pairs state of the art cardiology procedures with evidence based chronic disease management to improve both quality of life and long-term outcomes.

Having lived in Wichita Falls for many years, Dr. Djafari appreciates the community’s welcoming spirit and the small town warmth and simplicity that make it feel like home.
