Some blood types are needed every day — but O-negative and B-negative are especially vital when lives are on the line.

🩸 O-negative blood is the only type that can be safely transfused to patients of any blood type. Because of this, it is heavily used in trauma situations, emergency surgeries, and for newborns. When hospitals face emergencies, O-negative is often the first blood used.

🩸 B-negative blood is extremely rare, found in less than 2% of the population. Patients with this type depend on a very small donor pool, which means maintaining a stable supply is always a challenge.
