Several years ago, I made the decision to educate myself on natural medicine. As I got deeper into my journey, I discovered the other side of medicine.... nutrition. Now, we have doctors who do a great job prescribing medications to help with the symptoms related to disease. They do a great job taking care of each of us by treating our symptoms with prescriptions and/or, when all else fails, doing surgery to remove the "culprit" that generates these problems. They want us to feel better, same As I. Although, I will go about your wellness from a different direction. I have always believed there is a cause for everything that happens in life, including illnesses and diseases.
So, what are the root causes of these symptoms we develop for which we need prescriptions for? What if I told you that your body is capable of healing itself if given the proper nutrition and selfcare? What if I told you that your lifestyle can affect your health in a big way just by making some changes? What if I said by eliminating certain foods from you diet, many symptoms can go away? What if you did only a few of these things and felt well again? And last but not least, when was the last time you REALLY felt well?
This is what functional medicine is all about, finding the root cause of your symptoms and eliminating them, not just covering it up with a Band-Aid. On this page, I will be addressing some common symptoms you may have encountered at one time or another in your lives. My hope is that you will be well again....I mean REALLY well!
What is FUNCTIONAL MEDICINE?
As a catalyst in the transformation of healthcare, functional medicine takes a comprehensive approach to prevention, health, and well-being; treats root causes of disease; and restores healthy function through a personalized patient experience — all while being a vital partner to conventional medicine.
THE BENEFITS TO PATIENTS AND PRACTITIONERS
We’ve seen the profound impact on practitioners who have rediscovered their passion for medicine and heard patients credit functional medicine for changing their lives. As the
leading voice for functional medicine for more than 30 years, The Institute for Functional
Medicine (IFM) is proud of the role we play in this kind of transformative change.
THE ROLE OF IFM
IFM advances the transformation of healthcare for patients and practitioners worldwide by
supporting the confident and competent practice of functional medicine, advancing health
equity, expanding access, and improving the delivery of patient care. IFM is the only organization providing functional medicine certification along with educational programs directly accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME)
Health Care Life Coaching is a method of guiding others to address their health, personal goals and, if need be, make behavioral changes to improve health and accomplish goals. Like traditional coaching, health coaches utilize goal setting, identification of obstacles, and use of personal support systems. The relationship between the coach and coachee is an accountability partnership focused on the overall outcome goals as defined by the healthcare practitioner and the client/coachee.
