Good morning!

If you have worked with me, I’ve probably shared with you why I became a lactation consultant.

My own personal struggles with my second child that made me realize lactation care isn’t one size fits all and women need so much more support.

Lactation care is not what it was seven years ago with my last child and I am so thankful to be a part of that growth.

I am also so thankful to have a newborn in this new phase of life because the way it has opened my eyes is so crazy.

If you are struggling with anything infant feeding, just know you’re not alone and you do not have to do this alone. I want to be in your corner cheering you on and giving you the knowledge you need to make the best decisions for you and your family.

If you have more questions or you would like to work one on one with me, please message me.🫶🏼

If you heard the saying “this m**o has fomo,” I can almost guarantee you that you have spoke with your pediatrician about distracted feedings, and snacking.

I’m here to tell you it’s completely normal and you’re not alone!

Even us professionals struggle! At the end of the day we’re all human and we’re all moms just trying to get back by doing the best we can.

Preserve your sanity by trying to schedule going out around feedings if you can, at home feed in a dark quiet place and when in doubt take a deep breath and remind yourself, this too shall pass.

If you’re needing additional support, I would love to help.

hang in there, mama you’re doing a great job♥️

Did you know I can help with more things than just breastfeeding and latching?

We can work on gradual gentle weaning strategies, managing nursing gymnastics (biting, moving), optimizing nutrition as solid foods increase, tandem nursing, addressing supply issues, and providing emotional support for extended breastfeeding.

Health organizations, including the AAP, CDC, and WHO, recommend exclusive breastfeeding for about the first 6 months, followed by continued breastfeeding alongside complementary foods for at least 1–2 years or longer. [CDC]

Fun Fact: This little cutie was one of my very first Private Practice clients two years ago and I will have the honor of working with her soon to be little sister. 🥹

If you are wondering if it’s too late to seek Lactation support, it’s not. Message me for more information.♥️

If you know me, you know I love the Spectra pump but the settings can be confusing for a lot of people.

I want to remind you that although these are guidelines to try, you may have to play around to figure out what you respond best to you. It can take a couple of pump sessions.
If you’re still struggling, fl**ge sizing may be the culprit. Your local lactation consultant can help make sure you find the best fl**ge size and settings for your body.

Here’s a quick breakdown below 🍼⬇️

Click the massage mode button
Cycle 70, vacuum 2-3 for 1 minute
Cycle 70, vacuum 3-4 for 1 minute
click the massage mode button again
Cycle 54, vacuum 4–5 for 5 to 8 minutes

If the milk flow has slowed down, click the massage mode again and pump for 1-2 minutes at a cycle of 70

once your milk is flowing again, click massage mode again to go back to a cycle of 48-42 for another 5 to 8 minutes

some women like to finish their pumping session at a cycle of a 38 with a vacuum of 5 to 6 for about two minutes.

If you want a cheat sheet to pull up on your phone comment below!

Hey it’s me, Courtney the face of At First Latch.

Two years ago when I joined Tiny Wellness and the Private Practice world At First Latch was born. I kept her name and inspirations tucked in a little folder on my desktop for two years. To be going public with her and actually taking this step is surreal for me.

I spent the last two years focusing on bettering myself as a practitioner, friend, spouse and mother. I wasn’t ready to jump into the private practice world head first before laying the solid foundation first, me.

If you have been with me from the very beginning, you know your family holds a special place in my heart. I wouldn’t even be here today if it wasn’t for you! If you’re new here, I can’t wait to connect with you and be there for you during such a vulnerable and beautiful time in your life.

I am going to do a little mini series over the next couple days about myself and family so you know who you’re working with. I hope you will join me in this new journey.🫶🏼

Let’s talk about clogged ducts and mastitis while I make my nightly tea.🌚🌙

The worst thing is waking up to a plugged duct or the pain of oncoming mastitis. We are going to go over ABM protocol number 36 to help you at the very first signs. Early intervention is key!

First things first: reduce inflammation!

You can take up to 800 mg of ibuprofen every eight hours, breast Gymnastics before latching, lymphatic drainage, massage after latching, ice packs 2 to 3 times a day after feeding for 10 minutes.

Next thing up is supplements you can take to support your breast health. You can actually buy the Breast Health supplement from lactation hub that has choline and probiotics combined or you can purchase high-quality probiotics and Choline separately.
When searching for a probiotic you want to look for strains of Lactobacillus fermentum or Lactobacillus salivarius.
You can get Choline from your diet and things such as eggs, peanuts, and kale. The recommended dosage is up to 550mcg. Each egg contains 150mcg of choline so just incorporate some eggs into your diet.

Next, you can go a more holistic route by using red light therapy devices. It is suggested to have 600 to 700 nm wavelength.
You can also use castor oil soaked cotton rounds on the area for 20mins. Try to avoid contact with your ni**le and look for organic cold pressed castor oil. You can find this in the beauty section at our local Walmart.

After trying these home remedies with no results after 24 hours, please reach out to professional so we can help you. If you have recurring plug ducks or mastitis, this not normal. Don’t suffer alone, message me to get help and let’s get you feeling better.♥️

Happy Valentine’s Day, mama 💘

Today isn’t just about chocolates and roses… it’s about celebrating the love that shows up at 2am feeds, in pump parts at the sink, in carefully measured scoops, and in every ounce made or poured.

Whether you’re a latch legend, pumping queen, or bottle-feeding boss babe — you are a miracle maker.

This is your reminder:
You are enough.
You are nourishing.
You are doing an incredible job.

Consider this your little self-love note from me 🤍

With love,
At First Latch

✨In my Private Practice Era✨

Being with Tiny Wellness the last two years has been nothing short of amazing. It’s not every day you find another person, much less fellow lactation consultant that you have so many things in common with.
It was such an honor getting to work alongside Nicole, learn from her in so many aspects of life and cultivate a friendship above everything else.

I’m not sure exactly what this new chapter is going to bring, but it might just be the best one yet.

I hope you’ll be a part of my journey.🫶🏼

Changes are coming ‼️

It’s been no secret that my time here in Wichita Falls is coming to an end 😭 (let’s not talk about that right now) and with that, changes are inevitable.

First things first - our beloved Courtney is branching out on her own and we are SO excited for her! With a move coming up it just made sense that she took those wings and flew! Courtney will continue lactation care here in Wichita Falls under her practice -

Wichita Falls - you are so lucky to have her!

As for me, this isn’t goodbye just yet. More on that later. 🥹
