Have you been researching how to fix your website’s accessibility and keep finding “remediation services,” though you’re not quite sure what that means?

Let’s talk about it!

Web accessibility remediation is the process of optimizing your website to meet WCAG standards. And no, it doesn’t always include developing a whole new one. Bonus points: improving your web accessibility helps everyone, not just the 27% of people with a disability.

In this week’s blog, we’re going to take you through the regular process of web accessibility remediation, why it always starts with an audit, and how this investment pays off.

The US government just gave organizations another year to meet the Title II Part H ADA guidelines.

What does this mean for you? If you receive any federal funding, you potentially have another year to get compliant. This doesn't mean that you're immune to web accessibility lawsuits in the meantime; just from government penalties.

Take this as a sign that while you might have some breathing room, you still need to get compliant. The best way to do that? Figuring out what's wrong with your current website.

It's time to get your web accessibility audit.

An audit will give you a personalized roadmap to improving compliance, helping you protect your organization and reach your entire target audience.

You don't need to be an expert either. Our web accessibility audits include what's wrong and exactly how to fix it.

If you're ready to fix your web accessibility, take advantage of the delay, and let's get started.

Send us a DM or head to https://captcoder.com/web-accessibility/audit/ and schedule a call.

Running Google ads feels like the solution to get more leads, but is it working? While you’re pouring thousands of dollars into your ad budget, you’re not guaranteed results.

Shoot, Google will even call and tell you what to fix with your ads to get more conversions, but there’s often a problem you haven’t considered yet. Your landing pages.

Are people clicking on your ads, going to your website, but not converting? You have a problem with your landing page. No matter how great your ad is, if your customers get to a page that doesn’t sell you, they won’t buy.

What’s stopping those clicks from becoming conversions? In this week's blog, we break down 4 common problems that might be killing your leads. Plus, we'll walk through how to fix them.

We've been a little quiet lately, so let me re-introduce myself!

My name is Marisa (mar-e-sa) aka Captain Coder.

I sold my first website at 16 and have been working in Marketing since I graduated high school. My BA and MA are in Literature because I've always loved telling a good story; I just get to do that now through websites and marketing.

While I've spent years working in businesses and agencies alike, I started Captain Coder in July 2020. We aim to deliver beautiful websites that are accessible and convert. More than that - we want our customers to feel empowered and educated when it comes to how their websites work. We love teaching so you're comfortable with the foundation of your organization.

Speaking of teaching, I also teach Digital Marketing classes at Wichita State. I get to work with some pretty incredible students, helping them understand ethical, strategic marketing practices. I'm a big fan of being good stewards of this vast internet.

I'd love to meet you, too! Tell me something about yourself in the comments.

You run an agency. Between client expectations, deadlines, and your team, you’re managing a lot. Learning one more thing can feel pretty overwhelming. And I’ve talked to enough of you to know that “ADA Compliance” is something that you just don’t feel you have space to deal with.

But, you think, AI can help! You can pay a few bucks a month for a one-click checker to help you find the problems. Or better, sell an overlay to your clients that you can make a bit of profit on as well. This shields your clients from lawsuits and fixes a bunch of code with just a bit of JavaScript, right?

Wrong.

There is a very expensive gap between what passes in an automated web accessibility scan and being truly accessible.

In this week’s blog, we’re exploring that gap and why relying on AI might create a bigger liability for your agency. Get it now at https://captcoder.com/hidden-risks-agency-relying-ai-website-accessibility/

You've seen the ads and heard that you can "fix" some web accessibility problems in just a few clicks. Is it really that easy?

Unfortunately, no. Automated scanners are a great way to get started with finding web accessibility issues, but they only find about 30% of your problems.

To do web accessibility right for your clients, you need to invest in some manual testing. Want to know what that's like? Send me a DM! I'd love to chat with you about the process.

One of the things that really matters to us? Authenticity.

As much as we chase data. trends, and "secrets," marketing is really just about creating human connection and trust. Without it, no one wants to buy from you.

How are we injecting some humanity into our business? A team photoshoot! (With some willing models.)

Look for more of these pictures soon throughout our social media and a revamped Captain Coder website.

No AI included.

How have you prioritized humanity in your marketing lately?

Have you spent months seeing your website traffic go down?

This is the most common complaint I heard at the end of 2025. Sites that had been getting tons of traffic all of a sudden had next to none. They were still ranking, but no one was clicking. What possibly causes that to happen?

AI and overviews. Think about the last time you researched something. Did you actually head to Google or did you pop the question into Chat GPT? If you did use Google, did you check the AI overview first and call it good?

This is the reality we're dealing with in the website space. While I 100% believe things will even out (after all, AI is still wrong A LOT and Google is losing ad money to AI overviews), most of these businesses want us to use AI for now. How do we even begin to compete in a space like that?

We follow best practices that have been important for years, but you're probably neglecting.

Web accessibility continues to prove it's that solution. Building accessible websites can take a bit more time up front, but if you invest you'll see the benefits long-term. Including competing when everyone else is struggling.

Recent studies show that accessible websites:

See a 23% increase in traffic

And rank for 27% more keywords

While the world changes, the basic best practices don't really because the companies behind these changes orient them around what we all *should* be doing.

Web Accessibility is a non-negotiable for us at Captain Coder.

Honestly, I don't care what the project is; we're going to do it the right way. Does that mean sometimes people "get more than what they pay for?" Sure, I guess. But I believe that what we do matters. What we put on the internet matters. And there's no point putting things out there, promoting your business or school, if not everyone in your audience can access it.

(Yes, I am a perfectionist. Why do you ask? 🙃)

You want your business to grow online. The only way for that to happen is for you to have the right foundation. Whether that's in your website, your social media, or any other digital marketing you put out there. If my team is involved, we're going to ensure that nothing you put out there will make someone else's life harder.

The internet should be for everyone and everyone deserves access to the same information.

Yes, even about your business.

Your university website has to reach multiple types of people.

You're trying to get attention from potential students; you're trying to help current students; you're trying to get donations from community members and other donors; and you're trying to engage with alumni. That is a lot of people to try to reach all at one time with one simple website.

So, how do we make this work for all these people? We ensure that our website follows best practices for user experience and web accessibility. These two pillars come together to help us create a website that is more inclusive and effective.

Let's explore how it works in this week's blog. Read it now at https://captcoder.com/web-accessibility-ux-drive-website-success/
