John and I were invited to join Micala Gingrich-Gaylord at a fundraiser for Juniper Arts Academy, and I’ll admit, I knew nothing about the group. Just goes to show: sometimes all it takes is an invitation to move a heart.

Juniper Arts Academy is a nonprofit based here in Sedgwick County, dedicated to empowering youth in foster care and juvenile justice communities through trauma-informed fine arts education. Their programs bring music, visual arts, and creative workshops directly into residential facilities and underserved spaces, places where traditional arts education is often absent. They operate with a trust-based relational approach, creating safe environments where kids can express themselves, build resilience, and feel seen.

One stat hit me hard: 99% of the students they serve had little or no access to fine arts education before Juniper stepped in. That’s not just a gap, it’s a canyon. So, standing in a room filled with stories, artwork, and hope, I found myself committing to make a donation to help. No hesitation. These kids deserve it.

Love is really all that matters because everyone comes into this world with nothing other than love and leaves with nothing other than love.
Think about it. Profession, career, bank account, our goods are just tools, nothing more. Everything stays here. So just love….
