It is likely you've heard about the stereotypes, prejudice and discrimination of ageism. Or maybe you haven't...Ageism can take place in the workplace , in healthcare or in the media (anti-aging ads and ads perpetuating negative views of aging), but we don’t often discuss internalized ageism. This is how we feel about ourselves as aging people or discriminate/stereotype others who are older.

This article addresses internalized ageism which can be harmful and perpetuate negative thoughts about aging. Ageism awareness is the first step to addressing ageism in our society. We can redefine aging and reduce and eventually stop ageism if we work together.
