Advancing hope, healing, and health through root-cause medicine, integrative therapies, and research-based care for complex health challenges. Since 1975, Riordan Clinic has partnered with patients—our co-learners—on the journey to real health. We are centered on advancing hope, healing, and health through root-cause medicine, integrative therapies, and research-based care for complex health challenges. Established as a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, our mission extends beyond patient care to include clinical research, provider education, and community health education. In addition to our clinics, we operate the Bio-Center Laboratory, a CLIA-certified facility specializing in advanced nutrient testing, and the Nutrient Store, which offers more than 300 pharmaceutical-grade vitamins and supplements. Riordan Clinic serves the community from two Kansas locations: Wichita and Overland Park (Kansas City metro area).

What if it’s not the accelerator… but the brake?

T3 is one of the thyroid’s primary hormones. It’s often described as the accelerator.

There’s also reverse T3, which Dr. Ron refers to as the brake.

You can have a strong accelerator, yet if the brake is engaged, you may feel slowed down.

Reverse T3 is not always included in standard thyroid panels. When it isn’t measured, that additional context may not be part of the review.

Today at our Lunch & Learn, we’re discussing how these markers are evaluated and how they fit into a broader conversation about hormones and metabolism.

We go live on YouTube at 12:00 PM CST.

On our most recent episode of the Real Health Podcast, Dr. Ron and Dr. Drew talked about why understanding your nutrient levels can bring clarity before making health decisions.

Before making changes, it helps to know what your numbers actually show.

Check Your Health begins next week. This semi-annual community health event offers comprehensive nutrient testing so you can take a closer look at where you stand.

You’ll receive detailed lab reporting along with guidance to help you understand your results and decide what makes sense for you.

During the event, select lab profiles are available at up to 50% off, and all supplements are 25% off.

To schedule your lab draw, please call: 📞 1-800-447-7276 ext. 1385 or 1302

Can you be… too tired to sleep?

“A lot of people are too tired to sleep.” — Dr. Ron Hunninghake

This excerpt comes from our episode Hormones, Metabolism, and the Energy Equation. In the full discussion, Dr. Ron explains how sleep and hormone patterns are often reviewed together.

We’ll continue this conversation at our Lunch & Learn, How Hormones and Metabolism Shape Your Energy, Mood, and Wellness, this Thursday, February 26, at 12:00 PM CST. You’re welcome to join us in person in Wichita, and the recording will also be available on our YouTube channel.

You wake up tired.
Your focus fades by mid-afternoon.
Your mood feels harder to steady than it used to.

“Hormones create the spice of life,” Dr. Ron often says.

“When you have adequate hormones, your energy levels are higher. Your immune system can function better. Your sleep is deeper. Your stamina is stronger. You feel more alive.”

To have steady energy, “your metabolism has to be tuned up by proper thyroid levels.”

“Without adequate adrenal function,” your ability to adapt to daily stress becomes limited.

Many people walk around looking fine.
But when you ask how they actually feel, the answer is different.

And sometimes what people assume is mental has a deeper root.
“It’s not a diagnosis. It’s a deficiency.”

Join us for our February Lunch & Learn as Dr. Ron and Dr. Drew talk through how hormones and metabolism influence energy, mood, and overall well-being. You will also hear how Riordan Clinic approaches these systems with long-term health in mind.

Tired even when you’re sleeping enough?
Energy steady one day and gone the next?

Hormones and metabolism quietly influence how you feel every single day, from mood to mental clarity to stress resilience.

Join Dr. Drew Rose and Dr. Ron Hunninghake for a Lunch & Learn where they’ll unpack how these systems work together, what common biomarkers can reveal, and how nutrient testing can provide meaningful insight into patterns that often get overlooked.

If you’ve ever thought, “Something feels off, but I can’t explain it,” this conversation is for you.

Some rooms change everything.

On April 25, 2026, the co-learners who heard "there's nothing more we can do" and kept searching will be in the same room. The caregivers who advocated when oncologists said no. The providers who chose the harder path.

This is that room.

38 years. What a legacy.

Dr. Ron, thank you for your dedication, kindness, and the care you bring to every co-learner and every member of this clinic. Your soft-hearted presence, genuine compassion, and steady leadership have shaped Riordan in ways that reach far beyond these walls.

You are a healer, a teacher, a mentor, and a constant example of what it means to walk this path with care and integrity. The clinic, and so many lives, would not be the same without you.

Please join us in wishing Dr. Ron a happy work anniversary and sharing your own well wishes in the comments. 💙

Our Story

Riordan Clinic is a non-profit, nutrition-based health facility located in Wichita, Kansas. We also have clinical offices in Hays, and Overland Park to serve the Kansas City metro area. Founded in 1975 from the shared vision of Dr. Hugh Riordan and benefactor Olive W. Garvey, we advocate the integration of lifestyle and nutrition changes to help patients discover the underlying causes of their illnesses. We believe in using nutrient testing to find imbalances and treat them accordingly. Riordan Clinic reserves the right to remove posts advertising commercial products, as well as those that violate Facebook's terms of service, or are inaccurate or otherwise objectionable. We do not answer specific health questions on Facebook or give medical advice. Consult your doctor before beginning any new lifestyle changes. ********************************** Doctor Call Times: Each week our doctors and providers participate in 30 minute conference calls for potential patients to answer basic questions about the clinic, integrative medicine and their backgrounds and areas of expertise. To find the weekly schedule and access information; please visit https://riordanclinic.org/doctor-call-times/. Please remember that this is a conference call that may have other potential patients listening in and participating as well. You may remain anonymous if you wish to do so. (Call times may be adjusted or cancelled due to doctor availability or emergencies. Please keep an eye on our page for any announcements regarding a change in our regular Doctor Call Time schedule.)
