We are proud to recognize our exceptional Vice President of Human Resources & Compliance at Larksfield Place Retirement Communities for being named a Best in Human Resources Honoree by the Wichita Business Journal. This recognition reflects what we experience every day—her rare blend of disciplined process acumen, strategic leadership, and genuine care for people. "She brings the perspective of a seasoned healthcare HR professional who understands both the operational rigor and human dimension required to build thriving teams," commented CEO Mike Hambley. Her foundation as a political science graduate of the University of Kansas highlights Hailee’s ability to bridge perspectives and build alignment, while her experience as a varsity rower reflects the endurance, teamwork, and determination she demonstrates daily. At her core, she is a true people enthusiast whose leadership strengthens our culture, advances our mission, and elevates everyone around her – every day! We are grateful—and fortunate—to have her on our leadership team.

Larksfield Place was honored to host an extraordinary evening of music last week, featuring world-renowned trombonist Peter Steiner and acclaimed pianist Constanze Hochwartner.
It was a remarkable turnout, with over 200 residents and guests gathering to experience a performance that redefined the possibilities of the trombone. Steiner, celebrated globally for his virtuosic command, moved seamlessly between staggering technical passages and moments of delicate, vocal-like lyricism. The collaboration with Hochwartner was equally captivating; her precision and sensitivity provided the perfect foundation for an afternoon of world-class artistry.
Events of this caliber bring a unique energy to our community, and seeing such a full house underscores the deep appreciation for the arts here at Larksfield Place. It was a privilege to witness the passion and dedication these international artists bring to their craft in such an intimate setting.
Thank you to everyone who joined us for this memorable occasion, and a special thanks to the performers for sharing their incredible gifts with our community.

In honor of Kansas Day, our Larksfield residents have assembled an amazing display from their own collections! Resident Jan Longhofer oversees our monthly displays with resident Sue Cowdery. Sue is shown here explaining the significance of these items. Sue has had extensive experience in museum work, having had several positions as a volunteer at the Mid-America All-Indian Museum for 15 years and collection manager for WSU’s Lowell D. Holmes Museum for another 15 years, as well as teaching there. She set up the collection management program at both locations. Her interest in different cultures is due to an Anthropology degree from WSU. Thank you, Sue, for sharing your knowledge of Kansas culture with us! larksfield.org

What a great night spending time with Larksfield's own Al Higdon as he talks about the new book about him, "The Power of Two" with author John Brown at Watermark Books! And what a great turnout! Al is best known as one of Wichita's original "Mad Men," having founded Sullivan, Higdon & Sink, one of the premier advertising and public relations firms in the Midwest. Al spoke about the nine decades of his exciting life from the values he learned as an Eagle Scout to being at the heart of the worlds of Aviation and Advertising, to the civic and philanthropic service he has been involved in all his life.
Al maintains that his accomplishments have come in the course of team play, showing forth at every turn "the power of two."
As he said in a recent article in The Wichita Eagle, “I’m reminded constantly what a lucky lad I’ve been throughout my whole life to be in the right place at the right time,” Higdon said. “I’m just a blessed human being.” larksfield.org
