Today, on National Rural Health Day, we get to share some exciting news with you. Our team has received the 2025 Performance Leadership Award for Quality and Patient Perspective! This award really highlights how much we value our patients’ experiences. It’s a proud moment for all of our staff!

This award comes from The Chartis Center for Rural Health and reflects top-quartile performance among rural hospitals across the country. It means our staff’s hard work, compassion, and commitment to excellence are making a real difference in the lives of the families we serve.

Your trust means the world to us, and we feel truly honored to serve our rural communities. Thank you!

Today is Rural Health Day, and it hits close to home for us.

In a small community like ours, health care is not a building or a department. It is people you recognize at the football game, the grocery store, or sitting next to you at the stoplight. It is the nurse who remembers your kid’s name, the provider who checks on you after hours, and the team who shows up early and stays late because this is their hometown too.

So today, we are celebrating:

- The anesthesia team and our doctors who roll out of bed at 2am for a delivery
- The clinic teams who treat you like family
- The hospital staff who make tough days easier
- The dietary team who cooks with care and keeps everyone going
- The housekeeping team who keeps our hospital safe, clean, and calm
- And the community who trusts us with their care

Rural health is not always easy, but it is worth it every single day. Thank you for trusting us to care for you and your family here in Rice County.

Meet the MPR Team: Marla Booher, MBA, CPMSM, CEO of MPR.

Today is Marla's one year anniversary at Medical Provider Resources (MPR)! Throughout this year, Marla has shared her years of experience in provider credentialing and healthcare with us through her leadership. With a passion for the credentialing and enrollment industry, she is dedicated to helping healthcare organizations reduce stress, stay compliant, and strengthen their internal processes.

Her focus goes beyond providing services, Marla believes in building strong customer relationships and strategic partnerships with MPR customers and partners. At MPR, her goal is to be both a trusted service provider and an advocate for her customers and providers navigating the credentialing and enrollment landscape.

Congratulations, Dr Kellerman!!

Congratulations to recently retired MSSC member Rick Kellerman, MD, on receiving the President’s Award from the Kansas Academy of Family Physicians. Dr. Kellerman is a past president of KAFP and the American Academy of Family Physicians (AAFP) , and he chaired the KU School of Medicine-Wichita Department of Family & Community Medicine for 27 years.
