✨Just another Maddie Monday✨
Maddie, RN & Postpartum Doula shares her tips and tricks for !
Newborns make a lot of noise—grunts, squeaks, whimpers, even little cries—while they’re actually still asleep. It can be tempting to scoop them up the second you hear a sound, but pausing for a moment can be helpful. Sometimes they’re just transitioning between sleep cycles and will settle right back down on their own. Giving them a brief chance to resettle doesn’t mean ignoring them; it means observing and responding thoughtfully. Of course, if the cry escalates or feels like a true “I’m awake” cry, that’s your cue. A short pause can lead to more rest for everyone.
Maddie lives in north Wichita with her husband and three children, and has been one of our amazing overnight newborn care providers at The Wichita Baby Company since 2019!
