PTSD… or PTSG?
What if the story isn’t just Post Traumatic Stress…
What if it’s also Post Traumatic Growth?
Not the kind of growth people try to sugarcoat.
Not the “everything happens for a reason” kind.
I’m talking about the kind that drags you through the underworld…
and hands you back your nervous system piece by piece.
PTSD is real.
It lives in the body.
It echoes in the breath, the reactions, the moments you didn’t choose but now have to carry.
But there’s another layer people don’t talk about enough…
The moment you start seeing it instead of becoming it.
The moment your body pauses instead of reacts.
The moment you realize:
“I’m not broken… I adapted.”
That’s where PTSG begins.
Post Traumatic Growth isn’t about bypassing the pain.
It’s about building capacity inside of it.
It looks like:
• catching the trigger before it runs the show
• choosing a different breath
• staying present when your body wants to leave
• reclaiming your energy instead of leaking it
It’s not loud.
It’s not performative.
It’s deeply embodied.
And here’s the truth most people won’t say:
Growth doesn’t erase trauma.
It changes your relationship to it.
You stop asking, “Why did this happen to me?”
And start asking, “What can I hold now that I couldn’t before?”
That’s power.
That’s regulation.
That’s evolution.
So yeah… PTSD is real.
But so is PTSG.
And some of us are walking proof that the same system that once learned to survive…
can learn to feel safe, grounded, and fully alive again.
