Are you interested in learning how Dungeons and Dragons can be used in Play Therapy sessions? I am doing a 3-hour virtual training on April 29, 2022 from 9-12 on this very topic!

I have loved bridging these two worlds and my clients love the versatility of utilizing D&D within therapy.

Hello Everybody!!! What a year this has been for us all. I, for one, have learned a lot about myself and this is one thing I wanted to share with you all.

Play is an essential part of our overall well-being and when we deny ourselves the opportunity to play, our mental, emotional, and even physical health suffers. I finally had to give myself permission to play in the ways that worked best for me and not feel bad about it.

I have recently been giving a lot of thought to the word “play” and what it really means to me. As an adult, I feel like societal norms tell me that I should be an upstanding citizen, maintain a job, and produce a child or two who will also grow up to be an upstanding+ Read More

It has been a while since I've posted on here, and for that I'm sorry. I will try to do better in the future.

I wanted to share the first part in a 3 part article I wrote. This first part is all about healthy vs. unhealthy and abusive relationships. I think this information is good for anyone and everyone to read. It can be applied, not only to romantic relationships but also work relationships and friendships.

Every person living is in a relationship. This relationship could be romantic, a friendship, an acquaintance, or work-related. Humans need connections to live. Correction, we need healthy connections to live fully and happily. However, not all relationships are healthy. Some partnerships are full of...

We all go through tough times, right? We all have hardships, troubles, and turmoils like everyone else. Hopefully, when these things happen, there are people around us to lift our spirits and remind us how much we are worth. Where I struggle is when I see something awful happening and I feel like I don’t have a lot of control over it or can’t help in any way. Watching these things unfold often makes me feel hopeless.

Then I remember this video, and I watch it for the 100th time, and I remember that I can rise above. Those in horrible situations can rise above, and a lot of times they will if they have the support and love of those around them to help. I picture whoever is in the situation saying, “No! I’ve had enough!” when Keala puts the music stand down and pushes it to the side. I know at that point that something amazing is going to happen and that whoever was in the horrible situation has just made a change in their life. They will succeed no matter how hard or scary it might be.

My challenge to you, don’t give up on them. Even if you can’t physically be there to help, send them positive thoughts and wishes. It doesn’t have to be in the physical form either. If you put energy out into the world, it goes somewhere. Direct it to that person. Tell them they are strong and need to fight to get out of the place in life they have found themselves in. Tell them they are brave and can do it and that you have their back.

I love Wil Wheaton. I've had the opportunity twice to see him speak and he is so inspirational. The first time I heard him talk it was at a Comicon in Kansas City. A middle school aged boy asked him how to fit in and be liked. Wil's response was something I will never forget. He told the kid to just be who he was and he would find others who liked him for him, and not who society thought he should be. The room applauded and that kid's smile was so bright. I think the thing I like most about Wil is that he is real. He lives with two mental illnesses and it would be so easy for him to give up. But he hasn't. Don't give up! Find your people and stick with them!!!

I am not ashamed to stand in front of the world and say, that I live with mental illness. I

I’ve been recommending less screen time lately...here’s why!

A new study indicates that more hours of screen time are associated with lower well-being in those aged 2 to 17, though the association is larger for adolescents than for younger children.
