Many clinicians and clients alike are undereducated regarding healthy s*xuality, often relying on a "belief-based decision-making model" rooted in silence, shame, and rigid morality. This lack of education creates a dramatic gap between what therapists are prepared for and what clients need to heal. This presentation introduces the "S*xual Health Compass," a practical, values-based framework designed to navigate the complex terrain of consent, pleasure, and autonomy. By synthesizing the biopsychosocial and PLISSIT models with S*xual Health Principles, clinicians can help clients dismantle shame and move away from a "performance-based" view of s*x. We will explore concrete tools to facilitate open communication and define conscious s*xual values, empowering clients to move from merely surviving to thriving in their s*xual relationships.
Mike Fuller, LCSW, CCTP, is the founder of Fuller Counseling Group and a psychotherapist specializing in the complex intersection of faith deconstruction, religious trauma, and s*xual health. With a unique background spanning two decades as a religious educator before transitioning to clinical practice, Mike helps individuals and couples move "from orthodoxy to compassion." Mike is in the process of becoming a Certified S*x Therapist, he utilizes Internal Family Systems (IFS) and trauma-informed modalities to help clients reclaim their autonomy and build pleasure-based s*xuality.
