🌼February 2026 Daisy Award Honoree - Christina Ressel, RN, ER🌼
“When our grandmother was brought to the hospital for a possible stroke, we were fortunate to have an exceptional nurse, Christina, caring for her. From the moment we arrived, she was incredibly kind, sweet, and compassionate. She spoke to our grandmother so gently and lovingly, as if she were her own. That is the kind of care you pray for when you are watching a loved one suffer.
Christina treated our grandmother with patience and genuine understanding, always mindful of her age and the challenges that come with being elderly. She took the time to truly listen to our grandmother as she talked about her life, who she is, and her family, which meant so much to all of us. When we initially believed our grandmother was going to be discharged, she experienced further complications that caused her to slip and fall. Christina took immediate action to ensure our grandmother was completely safe and to prevent any further injury. It is important to note that the fall was unpreventable.
Although our grandmother was in stable condition and a stroke had been ruled out, her blood pressure suddenly dropped. Christina clearly explained that she would need to stay for further testing, which would take several hours. During this time, our grandmother was sick and very confused. Christina remained extremely gentle and attentive. When our grandmother became ill, Christina cleaned her up with dignity and care.
When our grandmother was concerned or frightened, Christina made her smile and helped her understand what was happening. Whenever questions were asked, Christina took the time to answer them thoroughly and in depth, ensuring we all felt informed and reassured. Throughout everything, Christina was professional, calm, and compassionate. She clearly knew what she was doing and made an incredibly scary situation much easier for our entire family. I am so grateful for nurses like Christina.
She truly deserves recognition. You can tell she genuinely cares about her job and her patients. Maintaining a positive attitude in high-pressure situations—especially in the middle of the night—is not easy, yet she did so with grace. She is outstanding and a huge asset to Memorial ER.”
Thank you, Christina, for the exceptional care you provide our community!
