“The therapy I received from the Elite staff helped me strengthen my pelvic area prior to surgery. After surgery, they helped me regain my strength and also helped with my core. With their guidance I can now continue what I learned at home. Thank you, Elite! “ - Miriam Cappos

Perineal biofeedback is used by many clinicians and patients to help a patient learn to control pelvic floor muscles. If used properly with guidance it can be a wonderful tool to assist in learning.

Up on a Sunday way before the sun to work on additions to my spring semester Pelvic Rehab courses. ☺️

We have been adding vibration plates/whole body vibration to our programs, and we are seeing some early successes 👏

As with any of the "tools" we use in pelvic rehab, it's important to know when to add them, what parameters to use, and to couple them with appropriate exercise, activities, manual therapies, etc for the clinical indications you are trying to achieve (when used incorrectly symptoms can become worse).
.....that being said, we are having a great time working with our patients and seeing success!

I LOVE teaching the physical therapy and physical therapy assistant students pelvic rehab, and can't wait to explore this new section with each group ☺️

Sunday-Funday working on continued research on Vibration Plates and Pelvic Rehab :)

We started to implement vibration plates into our pelvic rehab programs, adding this to our programs in order to work on rapid muscle contractions, improving muscle strength, coordination, and activation. For pelvic floor rehabilitation, this can help strengthen the pelvic muscles, improve blood flow to the pelvic region, and reduce symptoms associated with pelvic floor dysfunction.

It can also be used as a tool to help nonrelaxing pelvic floors by using low-intensity vibrations to improve muscle tone, circulation, and neuromuscular control, helping to release tension.

As is true with all of the "tools" used in rehabilitation, it can be helpful as a part of the overall program (if appropriate indications are chosen, as well as accurate parameters).

More to come on this at Elite :)

POSTPARTUM WOMEN – DO NOT RETURN TO FITNESS UNTIL YOU PASS THESE TESTS

We advocate for women to return back to their prior level of activity...but not until their bodies are ready and at low risk for incontinence, pelvic pain, prolapse, etc.

There has been much confusion as to when that is - clear up the confusion here:

If you've met your health insurance deductible and/or out of pocket maximum before the New Year, now is the perfect time to schedule physical therapy because your insurance covers most or all costs, meaning minimal out-of-pocket expense for treatments you've been putting off.

Since most deductibles reset in January, waiting means paying full price again, so book sessions now to treat injuries, improve mobility, and use benefits like HSA/FSA funds before they expire, maximizing your investment in your health before year-end.

Schedule now by calling 570-970-0402 (Wilkes-Barre) or Moosic (570-774-4200)

In a major move this year, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration officially removed that warning from many estrogen and estrogen-progestin products.

The ACOG (American College of Obstetricians & Gynecologists) has long advocated for removal of the ‘black box warning’ on low-dose vaginal estrogen because the warning has posed a barrier for people who suffer from vaginal and urinary symptoms of menopause and could find needed relief with vaginal estrogen.

As with any medical decision, their use should be based on an individualized conversation between patients and their clinicians on risk verses benefit.

Three cheers for Bri!!

She completed a pelvic rehabilitation education course in NY this past weekend.

We gladly provide a continuing education budget for all our clinical staff to continue to develop.

Nationally, it is very rare for a first year PT to give up a weekend to take a course. We are so proud of her for pushing herself to get better!!
