Via Vitae Chiropractic is an upper cervical chiropractic office that is honored to serve families and people of all ages in the Williamsburg, Virginia area. We utilize state-of-the-art technology to get an exact assessment of your nervous system, allowing us to get down to the root cause of your health concerns. Once these problem areas have been identified, our doctor then uses very gentle and specific corrections to remove the problem and allow your body to heal itself naturally.
Grey’s Anatomy states on page 4 that the nervous system controls and coordinates every single function in the human body. The way it does this is through the brain, spinal cord, and spinal nerves. The brain is constantly sending out messages to the body. These messages travel down the spinal cord and out the spinal nerves until they have reached every cell, muscle, tissue, and organ in the body. It is vital for the body to receive these messages in order for it to continue functioning optimally.
The spine is made up of 24 moveable bones which have interlocking joints. This design protects our nervous system from harm while allowing the body full range of motion. However the very first bone in the neck, called the atlas, is less stable than the other bones in the spine and can easily shift from its proper position. This loss of alignment causes irritation to the spinal cord and brainstem, blocking the signals coming from the brain. Without these vital messages the body begins to dysfunction, leading to many of the health concerns people experience such as vertigo, migraine headaches, and neck pain. Our office focuses on this loss of function and seeks to correct it through gentle, specific upper cervical care.
By using our technology to locate and correct the atlas misalignment, we can restore balance to the nervous system and alleviate the symptoms associated with these conditions. Most importantly, we can also help your body function at its fullest potential by preventing these conditions from forming in the first place. This type of care is safe and comfortable for people of all ages.
