🎻 An Afternoon of Inspiration at Homewood Living Frederick 🎶
Last week, residents of Homewood Living at Frederick, joined by friends from Homewood Living Williamsport, were treated to an unforgettable performance by internationally acclaimed violinist Jaime Jorge.
Jaime’s story is as moving as his music. Born and raised in communist Cuba, he began playing the violin at the age of five. Despite being offered incredible opportunities—including studying in Moscow with some of the world’s greatest musicians—Jaime and his family chose to stand firm in their faith, declining offers that required them to renounce their belief in God.
At age ten, Jaime’s family was miraculously granted permission to leave Cuba, eventually settling in the United States. Here, Jaime pursued a Christian education and studied under renowned violinist Cyrus Forough. Though he initially dreamed of becoming a missionary doctor and entered the University of Illinois School of Medicine in 1994, he felt a deeper calling. In 1996, he made the courageous decision to leave medical school and dedicate his life to full-time music ministry.
Since then, Jaime has traveled over 7 million air miles, performed on six continents in more than 80 countries, and released 18 albums. He jokes that he’s just waiting for an invitation to play for penguins in Antarctica to complete all seven continents!
His performance was not only musically stunning but also spiritually uplifting—a true blessing to all who attended.
🙏 Thank you, Jaime Jorge, for sharing your gift and your story with our Homewood Living communities.
