New Way Of Life Snyder:

In honor of Black Balloon day, NWOL Snyder wrote the names of loved ones and friends they lost to an overdose on index cards and attached them on balloons. Balloons were then hung throughout the hallway. They ended the day with a moment of silence for loved ones gone too soon.

Conewago Pottsville

Today, the staff and clients of Conewago Pottsville teamed up with Pottsville's Mayor, Tom Smith, to help move gymnastics equipment from the local YMCA to Alvernia University. Our clients proudly supplied the muscle needed to get the job done, showcasing incredible teamwork and dedication. In recognition of their hard work, Mayor Smith rewarded our clients with a three-month gym membership at the YMCA — a well-earned thank you for a job well done!

Conewago Pottsville

Conewago Pottsville will be taking part in a Recovery Spotlight Storyboard for an event called the Silver Mile of Hope, which will take place on April 18, 2026. For this initiative, both staff and clients will write a short blurb centered on healing and hope, providing a snapshot of their personal recovery journey. The goal is to share the faces and stories of those who have prevailed over addiction and to highlight the strength and resilience within our community. Submissions for the storyboard are due by the end of the month. This event will be held at Bubeck Park in Schuylkill Haven.

Seeing the Need

Firetree, Ltd. was formed in 1991 as a non-profit 501 (c) (3) corporation designed to provide quality transitional services to individuals associated with the criminal justice system. Statistically, chemical abuse is an indirect or direct cause of criminal behavior in approximately 90 % of the prison population; however, a minimal number of offenders were receiving substance abuse treatment. Firetree, Ltd. developed the belief and the mission that drug and alcohol treatment is essential to effect change in the criminal offender. It wasn’t long before serving those who are chemically dependent but not yet involved in the criminal justice system was recognized as yet another area of need.
