Today is National Donor Day, a time to recognize the incredible impact of organ, tissue, and blood donation. 💙

Becoming an organ donor is a powerful act of generosity, one that can save lives, restore health, and offer hope to families during some of their most difficult moments. A single decision can leave a lasting legacy of compassion and care.

We believe in honoring lives in ways that reflect love, service, and humanity. Today, we pause to acknowledge donors and their families, whose selfless choices continue to make a difference far beyond one lifetime.

Sharing memories can be one of the most healing ways to support someone who is grieving. 💙

Reflecting on the good times, stories, laughter, and special moments, helps keep a loved one’s memory alive and reminds families that their story continues through those who remember them. Sometimes, a shared memory can bring comfort when words fall short.

We believe every story matters. If you’re supporting someone through loss, know that remembering together can be a powerful step toward healing.

A gentle reminder on funeral etiquette 📵

To help preserve a peaceful and respectful atmosphere during services, we encourage guests to silence or turn off their cell phones before entering the funeral home or place of worship. Small courtesies like this allow families and friends to focus on remembering and honoring their loved one without interruption.

We’re grateful to everyone who helps create a calm, caring environment for those who are grieving. Your thoughtfulness truly makes a difference.

W. Augustus "Gus" Wilson

W. Augustus “Gus” Wilson, 87, of Williamsport, passed away peacefully on Friday, January 30. He will be greatly missed.

Born in Williamsport, Pennsylvania, on September 23, 1938, Gus lived his entire life in the city he loved. He was the son of the late Theodore R. and Dorothy V. (Basey) Wilson. A 1958 graduate of Williamsport Area High School, he later attended St. Augustine College in Raleigh, North Carolina, where he studied Theology.

Gus proudly served his country in the United States Army from 1958 to 1962, and continued his service in the Army Reserves from 1962 until 1986, completing more than 28 years of dedication to the nation.

After graduating from the police academy, Gus was sworn into the Williamsport Police Department on August 8, 1963. He was promoted to Detective, Second Class, on January 1, 1969; to Sergeant on July 7, 1973; and to Agent on February 12, 1980. Over the course of his 34-year, four-month career, he served as an Arson Investigator and Juvenile Officer, and in 1984 was named the Williamsport Exchange Club’s Police Officer of the Year for his arson-related investigations. Gus retired on December 31, 1997, after a lifetime of serving the Williamsport community.

A devoted member of Trinity Episcopal Church, Gus served faithfully as Verger Emeritus. He was also an active member of St. John Masonic Lodge #26, the Ni**od Consistory #9 of Harrisburg Pa, the National Fraternal Order of Police Williamsport Lodge #029, American Legion Post 1, the Scottish Rite, and the Central PA Diocese on Drugs. A lifelong Pittsburgh Steelers fan, he proudly passed that passion on to (most of) his children.

Gus is survived by his four children: Charles M. Wilson of Palmdale, California; Anne-Louise Wilson of Washington, D.C.; Kerry C. Wilson of Harrisburg, Pennsylvania; and Lauren M. Wilson of Williamsport, Pennsylvania. He is also survived by eight grandchildren—Diondre, Dominque, Quintin, Quincy, Q. Augustus, Rebekah, Sloane, and Sabeen—along with many great- and great-great-grandchildren; the mother of his eldest four children, Charliese E. Wilson; and a large extended family of nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews, and great-great-nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Gus was preceded in death by his daughter, Wendy M. Drummond Wilson, his Granddaughter Dynisha C. Crump, and his five brothers: Theodore B. Wilson, Melvin J. Wilson, Sr., Rev. Howard E. (Pearl) Wilson, Wilbert P. (Martha) Wilson, Sr., and Robert J. Wilson.

A memorial service celebrating Gus’s life will be held at 1pm on March 8th at Trinity Episcopal Church, 844 W. Fourth St., Williamsport, Pa. Father Kenneth Wagner-Pizza will officiate, and the St. John Masonic Lodge #26 and Ni**od Consistory #9 of Harrisburg Pa will conduct the Masonic portion of the service. A repass will follow immediately after the memorial service, where all are invited to share smiles, laughter, and memories with Gus’s family and loved ones.

Flowers will be accepted for the service. Donations in Gus’s memory may be made to Trinity Episcopal Church, 844 W. Fourth St., Williamsport, PA 17701, or to St. John Masonic Lodge #26.
