🎉 Dysautonomia Clinic Research Team is excited to share our new study on autonomic dysfunction and comorbidities in h- and hypermobility spectrum disorders (HSD)! The study found significant autonomic dysfunction in women with h-EDS/HSD, which was more severe than in patients with multiple sclerosis, diabetic neuropathy, scleroderma, and psoriatic arthritis. Quality of life was also worse than in patients with POTS, multiple sclerosis, rheumatoid arthritis, and lupus. 25% of patients had a clinical triad of EDS, POTS and MCAS. ‼️

It's possible that even generic drugs will be or are already affected by Pharma changing their processing or using cheaper ingredients in an attempt to cut cost. Question for patients who take atenolol by Teva USA or another brand: have you noticed new-onset body tingling after taking atenolol whereas that didn't happen in the past when you took this medication? A few of our patients developed new-onset body tingling (paresthesia) within a few hours of taking atenolol, a side effect that they never experienced before on this brand so we're trying to determine if Teva changed their atenolol formulation recently. Thanks!

Thanks to the The Ehlers-Danlos Society for inviting Dr. Blitshteyn to lead the CME course on neurologic and neurosurgical manifestations of /HSD at the 2025 International Scientific Symposium in Toronto, Canada. 🙏 Thanks to Newsweek for their report on POTS and interviewing Dr. Blitshteyn and other top specialists. Dr. Svetlana Blitshteyn said, "POTS can often be misdiagnosed with anxiety, depression, panic disorder, anemia, dehydration and many others, so when a doctor doesn't know much about POTS, they are most likely to misdiagnose it."

Dr. Blair Grubb added: "It's very unfortunate because these people are mistreated and ignored, and I think the real reason is many of them are women. If this was a disease principally in men, it would be taken more seriously." 🎯💯

PoTS results in a wide range of symptoms, particularly when standing, such as increased heart rate, chest pain and feeling faint.
