💗 Ladies, let’s talk skin health! 💗

A recent study out of Sweden, involving over 29,000 women, found that those on estrogen therapy may have a higher risk of developing skin cancer.

✨ While researchers still aren’t sure why, and you should never stop hormone therapy without speaking with your provider, it’s important to be aware of the increased risks:

🌸 Basal Cell Carcinoma: +24%
🌸 Squamous Cell Carcinoma: +23%
🌸 Melanoma: +31%

Even with these findings, estrogen therapy can still be safe and beneficial — it just means your skin deserves a little extra love.

✨ “My pores are huge!” — Let’s talk about what’s actually going on ✨

A lot of our patients come in worried about large pores, blackheads, and textured skin, but here’s the truth:

While some of these really are blackheads or enlarged pores, a lot of those dots aren’t blackheads or large pores at all — they’re sebaceous filaments.

Sebaceous filaments are normal, naturally occurring structures that help move oil through your pores.
They often look like small gray or yellow dots, especially on the nose and chin — and everyone has them. They can make pores look more noticeable, especially on the nose, but they are not a sign of damaged or stretched pores.

You can’t permanently remove sebaceous filaments — they’re part of healthy skin.
