CHIROPRACTIC TIPS FOR NEW YEAR'S RESOLUTIONS!!

With Full Circle Chiropractic and Full Circle Strength Systems at one location, we can help you make your new year's fitness goals a reality! It makes sense to receive quality Chiropractic care and be able to work out and get fit all under one roof!

Dr. Lacee Carr (Hughes) and her husband Mitch Hughes are national and internationally ranked athletes who can help you get a fitness plan together for any level of competition!

The New Year is here and you’re ready to get fit! Along with millions of others, you may have made a resolution to get more exercise and eat healthier this year. Unfortunately, many people have their fitness resolutions delayed by a sports injury not long after they begin their new exercise regimen. Anyone can suffer a sports injury, but people who’ve been inactive for a long time and then try to do too much are even more vulnerable. At Full Circle Chiropractic, we want everyone to start the New Year right. Here are a few tips from your chiropractor in Williston to help you stay on track—and pain free—while you work out.

GET A CHIROPRACTIC CHECKUP!

You may feel healthy enough for regular exercise, but getting a checkup from your chiropractic doctor before starting a new fitness routine may help you avoid serious injury. A new physical activity could aggravate an undiagnosed condition or untreated back problem, leading to pain or serious illness/injury. Dr. Carr can advise you on the types and amounts of exercise that are appropriate for you.

MAKE AN APPOINTMENT WITH A PERSONAL TRAINER!

Whatever your current fitness level is, a trainer can help you develop an exercise program that’s challenging without putting you in danger of injury. Our office is a one stop location - we have on-site personal trainers! You don’t have to commit to a long-term contract; just a few sessions can help you get going at a safe, and effective, speed.

MIX IT UP!

Yes, it is boring to run around the same track every day. But boredom isn’t the only reason to try a variety of activities. Repetitive strain injuries (RSI) are caused by the overuse of a specific set of muscles. For example, tendonitis of the forearm, also known as “tennis elbow,” can be caused by swinging a racket over and over. Participating in a variety of activities allows muscle groups to rest without the need to skip exercise all together. At Full Circle Chiropractic we can treat RSI through cold laser therapy and spinal adjustments. Strength classes are now being formed.

GET PROPER NUTRITION!

An engine needs fuel to run, and your body needs food and water to exercise safely. While you should avoid filling up right before a workout, exercising on empty leaves you more vulnerable to muscle fatigue, dehydration and injury. Questions as to the best nutrition plan for your workout or life's goal? Set up an appointment with Dr. Carr to discuss a plan that works best for you!

WARM IT UP AND COOL IT DOWN!

It only takes a few minutes at the beginning and end of your workout to significantly decrease the chances of injury and post-workout muscle soreness. Walk in place or jog slowly to engage and increase the blood flow to all the major muscle groups before you begin intense exercise. At the end of your work out, some basic stretches will help muscles recover more quickly.

SEE YOUR CHIROPRACTOR!

A properly aligned spine improves your balance and stability—two important keys to avoiding injury during exercise. Regular chiropractic care will help keep your spine healthy as you work to make the rest of your body that way. 701-774-5036

Do you have neck, shoulder or back pain from carrying lots of shopping bags or standing in long lines while Christmas shopping? Dr. Carr is still available for appointments to get your spine aligned so you can enjoy a pain free Christmas day with your loved ones! Call our office at 701-774-5036!!

In the meantime here are a few helpful tips for the Christmas season:

Watch Your Back: The combination of physical exertion and emotional stress during the holidays can increase your back pain. When wrapping gifts or decorating, always lift with your legs and bend at the knees; avoid lifting with your back. Leave your purse at home, if possible; bring only those items that are necessary (driver's license, credit card, etc.)

Manage Your Stress: Think positively. Having a positive attitude can combat negative stress that works against your body. Relax with a cup of tea. Research shows that drinking tea for six weeks helps lower post-stress cortisol and increases relaxation. Surround yourself with friends and family for support. Loneliness may contribute to stress in both men and women.

Get a Good Night's Sleep: Limit your intake of caffeine, especially before bedtime. Develop a routine: going to bed at the same time each night and waking up at the same time each morning helps your body know when it's time to rest. Invest in a quality mattress and supportive pillow. A good pillow will keep the cervical (neck) section of the spine aligned with the thoracic and lumbar (chest and lower back) sections. The sections move together and should be supported together.

Holiday Survival: On long shopping days, avoid carrying all of your shopping bags at once. Taking trips to the car to unload shopping bags can prevent serious shoulder and back pain. Consider these additional strategies to stay healthy this season.
