Lindsey Elliott
MS, MHP, Marriage and Family Therapy Graduate

I believe each person carries the strength to choose their own path toward healing. My role is to walk alongside you—helping you navigate the places that feel heavy or confusing while holding hope that change is always possible, even when the way forward feels unclear.

As a Marriage and Family Therapist working toward licensure, I walk alongside individuals, couples, and families as they navigate the complexities of life and relationships. My approach is warm, collaborative, and grounded in curiosity and compassion, creating a space where you can slow down, explore your story, and begin to understand what’s happening beneath the surface. Together, we’ll explore the patterns and emotions that shape your experience and create space for growth, connection, and new ways of relating.

In our work together, we’ll walk at a pace that feels right for you. Along the way, we’ll listen not only to your thoughts and emotions, but also to the ways your body responds—the tension, stillness, or sensations that can tell us what you’ve been carrying and what you might need to heal.

I believe therapy is a place to be met exactly where you are, with honesty, empathy, and respect. My hope is that our work together will help you find light, even in the darkest places, and remind you that you don’t have to walk this path alone.

Another big welcome to Isabel Kleene for joining with Timshel Counseling to work with those who are desiring connection and patience in their healing.

Kleene Counseling
Isabel Kleene
MS, MHP, LPC-intern

Warm, curious, and down-to-earth, Isabel meets each person right where they are. She sees therapy as a space to breathe, reflect, and grow—together. Her work is rooted in kindness, connection, and the belief that small moments of understanding can spark big change.

Through previous work experience Isabel was able to learn how to hold space and connection while guiding in their path of healing. She supported individuals living with severe and persistent mental illness (SPMI) and those recovering from traumatic brain injuries (TBI).

At Timshel Counseling, Isabel welcomes individuals of all ages and backgrounds. Her counseling approach is grounded in narrative and person-centered theories. Narrative therapy invites clients to explore the stories that shape their lives and to find new meaning in them. As Michael White and David Epston said, “The problem is the problem; the person is not the problem.”

Person-centered therapy emphasizes compassion, empowerment, and the belief that each person is the expert on their own life. Isabel deeply values Carl Rogers’ words: “It is the client who knows what hurts, what directions to go, what problems are crucial, what experiences have been deeply buried.”

“I hope to meet clients where they are and walk alongside them as they discover where they want to go,” Isabel shares. “Growing up in the rural Midwest taught me the importance of kindness and community. I believe the simplest acts of kindness can ripple outward—touching lives and helping communities grow stronger and more connected.”

Outside of her work, Isabel enjoys crocheting, hiking and camping, playing video games, and Dungeons & Dragons. She’s passionate about weaving creativity and nature into her therapy work, helping clients find healing and inspiration in both art and the outdoors.

“Every time we ask a question, we’re generating a possible version of life.” – David Epston

Michelle Thomas MSW, LGSW
Child & Family Therapist | Play Therapy in Progress

With over 20 years of experience supporting children and families, Michelle brings a compassionate, strengths-based approach to her work as a child and family therapist. Drawing from her extensive background as a school social worker, Michelle has a deep understanding of the emotional, developmental, and relational challenges that children face — both at home and in educational settings.

She believes strongly in the healing power of play and the importance of creating a safe, supportive space where children can express themselves freely, process their experiences, and build emotional resilience.

Michelle specializes in helping children navigate emotional struggles, attachment difficulties, trauma, and developmental needs. She is equally passionate about supporting parents, involving them as active participants in the therapeutic process, and empowering them with tools to strengthen the parent-child relationship.

Grounded in empathy, guided by evidence-based practices, and fueled by her belief in each child’s unique strengths, Michelle is committed to helping children and their families thrive.

🌿 Welcome to Timshel Counseling! 🌿

At Timshel Counseling, we believe in the power of choice.

“Timshel” comes from the Hebrew phrase “Thou Mayest” — a reminder that we always have the ability to choose.

Choice in how we show up.
Choice in how we grow.
And choice in how we heal. 💛

We’re here to walk alongside you — offering competent, compassionate, and trauma-informed care — as you choose your own path toward healing and wholeness.

Over the next little while, we’re so excited to introduce you to the amazing therapists who make Timshel what it is — each bringing their own warmth, wisdom, and heart to the work they do.

Stay tuned — we can’t wait for you to meet them! 🌼✨

A new season is unfolding 🌿

Our new website is officially live! This space was created to reflect what’s always been at the heart of my work — walking with others through growth, healing, and the sacred power of choice.

Timshel — “thou mayest” — reminds us that we are invited to choose obedience, peace, and faith even in the unknown.
I’d love for you to explore the new site and see what’s ahead.

More exciting news -> Bre is joining Timshel Counseling starting November 1, 2025

I believe healing happens in connection—and sometimes, the most powerful healing happens through play.

I walk alongside children, teens, adults, and families who are navigating life’s hardest experiences—whether that’s adoption or foster care, the impact of abuse - and has worked closely with sexual abuse, family changes like divorce or separation, or the big emotions that come with trauma and stress. I have a special passion for supporting little ones ages 0–5, while also helping parents and caregivers strengthen relationships and find new ways to connect.

My approach is gentle, creative, and body-based. Through my three-year Somatic Experiencing certification program, I’ve learned how to help people’s nervous systems find safety and resilience again. In our work together, I’ll invite you (or your child) to explore healing through play, connection, and somatic awareness—always at a pace that feels right for you. I am currently working toward my certification in play therapy!

I also work closely with my colleague, Whitney Berg, to support families in a collaborative way. Together, we focus on whole-family healing—creating space for every member of the family system to be seen, heard, and supported in their unique journey.

Beyond my therapy practice, I share what I’ve learned through trainings and workshops on trauma, brain development, ACEs, and caregiver support through MN Adopt and various other platforms. Teaching and supporting others in this way is another way I hope to spread understanding, compassion, and hope.

Most of all, I want you to know: you don’t have to go through this alone. My hope is to offer a space where every part of you—or your family—feels seen, supported, and empowered to heal.
