Sending you all an update that Lake Region is still closed and waiting for the OK from my Dr. to open. I have not been able to have the booster and not sure when I will.

It is with much heart ache that I write this, at this time Lake Region Massage & Bodyworks will not be doing massage and my office will be closed down- I will be moving my business to my home for the time being and will not be doing massage. I will still be offering CBD, Doterra and Young living oils and all other alternative products. I am under Dr orders not do massage due to Covid-19 concerns. Many of you know I have many health issues. You can get ahold of me thru my face book page, Private message me or text me through my cell phone at 320-220-4361. It is not over yet, just changed...

Yes- Yesterday we were given the go ahead to open our massage practices with many changes and conditions- I am asking for your patience. I know this impacts every client who trusts me to take care of them. There are many limits to what I can do right now because of my high risks and with the limits the CDC and government has put on us right now. I have NO opening back up date. I appreciate every phone call, text, kind word, every bit of support and your unwavering patience. I will continue to keep you all in the loop.. Peace..

UPDATE: After Governor Walz's 6:00 update last night, I have had several inquiries if Lake Region Massage & Bodyworks will be opening up June 1st. Keeping myself as updated and informed as possible, the answer is, at this point, not yet. He did not go into detail during his presentation, but when one reads the Emergency Executive Order 20-56 and The Critical Sectors explanation of said Order under "What Cannot Open Yet," massage is listed, and the primary reason is inability to social distance and the prolonged time spent with direct contact. Massage is a little further down the dial. I'll keep you posted!! Meanwhile, take care!!

Tomorrow my friend, coworker and I are getting together to bounce ideas around regarding massage and safety. We know things will be different. I would greatly appreciate feedback regarding some ideas/topics that are being presented to us from the leaders in the massage industry. These ideas are pretty much across the board from podcasts, massage magazines, Facebook groups, and our associations ABMT and NCBTMB. PLEASE feel free to respond with any answer how you feel. We need to look at this from all perspectives. So you know, I can see how many people view this post, so if there aren't many responses, we will also be taking that into consideration. So, please take the time and help us serve you in the best way possible. THANK YOU!!

As a client:

1. How will you feel about wearing a face mask during your massage?
2. How will you feel about me wearing gloves, mask and gown while I massage you?
3. How important is environment? (as it may be more "sterile" for less cleaning between clients.)
4.When will you feel safe to come in for a massage? Now? Do you feel it is safe?
5. Even though it's not in our "scope of practice," would you mind getting your temperature taken by your therapist? Would you be willing to answer questions regarding health and travel?
6. Would you be willing to sign a waiver as our liability insurance will NOT be covering Corona Virus/Covid-19 related issues?
7. Is there anything we can do to help make you feel safer?
8. Since we will no longer be able to fill our schedule- per governors order, we have to work at 50%, AND THE ADDED COSTS OF PPE'S AND SANITIZING PRODUCTS AND THE TIME IT WILL TAKE TO SANITIZE ALL AREAS OF THE TREATMENT ROOM,(WAY MORE THAN WE HAVE IN THE PAST) HOW MUCH OF A RATE INCREASE WOULD YOU BE COMFORTABLE WITH??

I'll just start with these questions, and go from there. I thank you for your participation. If you would rather PM me , please do that!! Thanks!!

UPDATE.....................I've had several people text, ask on facebook and call me asking How I am doing, and what is going on with Lake Region massage... At this time, it is still by the governor's mandate that I will be closed until May 18th or longer, It is my feeling I will be closed for quite a while beyond that for several reasons. Keep reading if you want to be informed on what I'm thinking.
I would like you all to know my thoughts. I am taking this situation seriously for many reasons. I am keep myself informed through many credible sources and using this information to figure out so many different dynamics. There are many aspects of massage as a professional provider that I have to take into consideration that most people as clients won't think of and sure dont have to, so I'd like to explain a few. I never in my life thought I would be in this position when I went to massage school, it certainly isn't what I signed up for. I signed up to help people live healthy lives and help them heal.
Safety:. Your health as well as my own is #1. It is being suggested by leaders in the massage field ,ABMP, ATMA and MASSAGE Magazine that we wait to open our practices until there is a vaccine. That would definitely be the best case scenario, but that could be months/years down the line. Since financially for most that is not plausible, the top suggestion in the meantime is using PPE (personal protection equipment). Well, as we know, at this time and for the near future, that needs to be going to the front lines, so that will be unavailable to us in the massage industry in the volume we would need. This is just the tip of the iceberg as to what CDC and OSHA are recommending , but just giving you an idea. As for my safety, I have a deficient immune system and Stevens Johnson Syndrome - enough said on that.
Insurance: During this time of pandemic, it is unsure and not much is being said regarding what will and will not be covered. Right now, if we are closed by the governor, we are not covered by our malpractice insurance. This means we can not practice. When we are opened .up our providers will need to decide how they will cover us - For instance, person A comes in and despite my precautions, client B comes in after A who was an asymptomatic carrier. Person B ends up getting the Coronovirus and it turns into symptomatic Covid-19 and it's traced back to Lake Region... what's going to happen? For now, until there are clearer answers, as a sole proprietor, I'd need to be safe. Not only that, if I'd catch it, Lake Region will be closed, if not shut down.

Education,/Certification: . I love what I do, but it has been work..19 years.... I don't want to jeopardize losing my certified standing by going against the governor's mandate, by jumping too fast and not thinking things through.

It is VERY important to me to do this correctly and to the best of my ability as there are several more areas that need critical thinking but I pointed out the top ones. I hope you can understand and appreciate that I, Brenda, the massage provider at Lake Region Massage & Bodyworks want to do the best ethically in all aspects in this pandemic situation for each of us. Thank you! Definitely, if you have questions, please let me know.
