How can this story be told without her?

My heart breaks 💔 open each year,
remembering this story

As we remember this day that Jeshua was brutally murdered on the cross – we acknowledge the love of the women who surrounded him

While the male disciples fled, the women remained

Amidst the brutality of the Roman executioners, the jeering crowd – make no mistake it was not safe for them to be there

What we witness in this story that is filled with pain, suffering and sorrow – the Via Dolorosa

Simultaneously, by the courage, steadfastness and love of the women – the Via Ahava – the path of love is shown

Mary Magdalene is the threshold guardian
The one who witnessed every unimaginable part of the Passion

Her witnessing was important, as the cornerstone of Christianity is built upon these two events – the crucifixion and the resurrection

There would be no Easter, no resurrection to recall if the one who witnessed and announced it wasn't there

Today, we give pause to remember
Remember that Love is greater – even than death

The Last Supper was when Jeshua met with his disciples to tell them the time had come for them to go on and spread the teachings without his physical presence

Its a beautiful time for us to receive his teachings and marvel at the relevance they hold today

They withstood the test of time
They are true - pure and potent

When you, the small-self
breathe (ruchau) you connect to Alaha – the greater/unseen reality

This de-centralizes the church or any outside 'authority' – at his time on Earth, humans didn't have a direct connection to the Divine

His life and ultimate sacrifice changed that
When Jeshua gave us his spirit, the temple cracked, the veil broke

Reminding us, the holy is among and within us

Over these next few holy days, find time for breath- full contemplation
it doesn't have to be vigorous as is the trend in breathwork culture – just slow, steady, intentional breaths

As you breathe , let your minds eye say

The Via Dolorosa- The Way of Sorrow
The tortuous steps Jeshua took to Golgotha

Simultaneously, the Via Ahava was being walked as well – The Way of Love

There was a mission – a covenant – an eternal bond of love that played out for those with eyes to see

A love story the world was denied knowing – because of religion, the teachings went underground protected by those who held the mysteries, the teachings – to protect the truth

Now some 2000 years later, we see the suffering that took place on those ancient lands exploding with even more suffering – more bloodshed – more religious authority – the root of suffering

Religion killed Jeshua
The Sanhedrin insisted upon his crucifixion – the Romans merely played out their part as blood thirsty tyrants – it was religion that ordered the murder

And today, its still religion causing suffering... heres just a few bloodbaths that are related to the Catholic Church, not to mention the wars of Islam and Israel

• The Albigensian Crusade - murder of the Cathors
• The Waldensian Crusade of France & Italy
• The Northern Crusades - pagan tribes
• Bosnian Crusade - linked to Catharism
• Hussite Crusade - Bohemian
• The Inquisition - Medieval, Spanish, Roman
• Witch Hunts - mostly women

When will it stop? When will we denounce religion once and for all and open our hearts to our true nature – to Jeshua's true teachings?

When will we wake up and see the bloodstained hands of religion and say ENOUGH

Religion separates - its fear based and guilt ridden and has a long history of causing suffering to people

Question authority, Follow your heart

"Truly, I say unto you, wherever this gospel is proclaimed in the whole world, what she has done will also be told in memory of her"

As holy week is upon us, the story of Christs Passion fills my senses – notice I use plural Christs Passion – this is a story of both the feminine and masculine Christs - Jeshua & Maryam

Mary Magdalene was a Myrraphore- a Priestess who worked with oils to consecrate holy moments
Here we see her doing what she knows

Anointing her beloved as a way to prepare him for what he was about to endure. She knew what was coming before the other disciples did

When they chastise her for using the expensive nard instead of selling it to feed the poor, Jeshua tells them – the poor you will always have, you will not always have me

He is preparing them to continue the good works he started without him and telling the world to remember her - this is quite an authoritve statement

As we take this journey through these upcoming days until Resurrection Sunday, we turn our hearts to remember the one who remained - Mary Magdalene

There would be no Easter without her

She was the anointing before the suffering
She was the presence during the crucifixion
She was the witness to the resurrection

Exerpt from todays Substack....

Back to my Catholic upbringing regarding how this exile of the feminine showed up in real time.

I distinctly remember being 13 years old and asking the priest if I can serve mass on the altar as the boys did.

He chuckled saying, “oh no Gina, that’s against the rules — girls aren’t allowed to serve mass.” I remember feeling a sense of unworthiness settle in (one that took decades to heal) and lamented to him on how unfair that was to which he replied it wasn’t his decision — it was the Popes.

I said, “Give me his address.” Yes, 13 year old me wrote Pope John Paul II many times on my pretty stationary declaring the unfairness towards girls not being able to serve mass and asked him to reconsider— to which he never replied. So you can see how the distortions of religion can have a pernicious effect, especially on the young....

The Way of Love

This is what the first followers of the Christs (both Jeshua + Mary Magdalene) called the teachings

Every year during Mystical Lent – the stirring in me rises to share the story of the Passion

To share it through the lens of the one who remained - Mary Magdalene

Without her, we wouldn't have Easter
We would've lost the cornerstone of what Christianity was built upon

The reason religion today is falling is because it wasn't built entirely in truth – and all that is untrue eventually collapses

What untruth? The one that excludes Magdalene’s significance to this story – to herstory – it wasn't built upon the one who carried the light of Christ - in fact, religion did its best to destroy what Christ consecrated

The patriarchal control of the narrative has had its time for over 2000 years – but now more of us are waking up – and thankfully, guardians of the teachings kept them alive underground so now they can safely surface

We will be opening the Red Temple on Good Friday for a vigil and Shabbat to honor the story through the Magdalene perspective – through herstory– through the only one who witnessed all of it – the male disciples fled from fear – it was the women who remained through it all – their voices, once silenced will now speak into what this sacred moment really was – and the movement that has been growing all along

Waiting for those with ears to hear
