Very important change to observation status in the hospital!

The law requires notification to Medicare beneficiaries that they may incur huge out-of-pocket costs if they seek care at nursing homes after not being formally admitted to hospitals as inpatients.

This is part of the reason why there is such a need for geriatric care managers, seniors advocates, etc., especially those of us who also act as agent under Power of Attorney! (Don't love the title elder orphans, however)
