There’s always one student who just can’t lay still in savasana… is it you? Why do we struggle so much to be in stillness, in silence? Savasana, the last pose in most yoga asana practices, requires us to confront our natural state of constant doing. The pose is not just about resting the body- it’s about surrendering the mind. As soon as we remove the noise, the movement, the action, that’s when the vritis, the fluctuations of the mind, start to emerge. We are programmed to think that productivity means doing, but in reality it’s balance we should be seeking- yin and yang, action and rest.
