Severe thunderstorms are expected in our area today. Taking a few precautions can help protect your health and safety.

⚡ When thunder roars, go indoors. Lightning can strike even when rain hasn’t started yet.
🚗 Avoid driving through flooded roads. Just a few inches of water can stall a vehicle or carry it away.
🌳 Stay away from trees, power lines, and storm debris during strong winds.
💊 Keep medications and medical supplies easily accessible in case of power outages.
🔋 Charge phones and medical devices ahead of the storms.

Staying weather-aware and prepared can help keep you and your loved ones safe during severe weather.

SEVERE STORMS MONDAY
We've issued an AccuWeather Alert for Monday afternoon into Monday evening as our region is expected to experience severe storms.

There will be scattered showers and downpours in the morning as our humidity levels start to climb. Along with that, strong southerly winds develop with 40-50mph gusts possible.

We'll be watching as severe storms develop west to east during the afternoon. We're looking at the window of 3pm-9pm. Our greatest risk will be damaging wind gusts produced by these storms. Along with that, the additional moisture in the atmosphere will produce downpours that can lead to instances of localized flooding. The tornado threat is elevated for Monday, so please stay tuned for updates and make sure you have a way to get weather alerts.

Join us to celebrate Pulmonary Rehab Week!

Pulmonary rehabilitation (PR) combines supervised exercise training, health education, and breathing techniques to help people with chronic lung disease improve their strength, stamina, and overall quality of life.

PR is one of the most effective non-pharmacologic therapies available for people with COPD, bronchiectasis, and other chronic respiratory conditions, yet programs remain significantly underused.

With AACVPR leading the charge, the COPD Foundation joins fellow lung health champions in raising awareness of the importance of pulmonary rehabilitation and the dedication of the health care professionals who deliver these specialized programs.

Great advice to keep in mind as we begin our post snow cleanup. Be safe! ☃️🪏❄️

With steady snowfall expected through tonight and into tomorrow, we encourage everyone to use extra caution when clearing snow. Heavy, wet snow can put significant strain on your heart, back, and muscles.

Before you head outside:
✔️ Warm up indoors first – stretch your arms, legs, and back.
✔️ Dress in layers to stay warm and prevent muscle strain.
✔️ Push snow when possible instead of lifting.
✔️ Lift small amounts and bend at your knees, not your waist.
✔️ Take frequent breaks — don’t rush.
✔️ Stay hydrated, even in cold temperatures.

🚨 Stop immediately and call 911 if you experience chest pain, shortness of breath, dizziness, or unusual discomfort.

If you have heart disease, high blood pressure, or other health conditions, consider asking for help with snow removal.

Please take it slow tonight and tomorrow morning. Your health and safety come first. ❄️

Pulmonary Rehabilitation locations will be closed tomorrow 2/23/26 due to weather. We will update any further schedule changes as soon as information is made available.

We are bracing for a major winter storm. 🌨️Make sure to have cell phones and oxygen batteries charged. Be prepared with an action plan in case you have a power outage. Expect any appointments scheduled for Monday to be cancelled or delayed- call to verify times before venturing out. Keep yourself safe and we’ll get through this together. ❄️☃️

The Winter Storm Severity Index shows major/extreme impacts across our area with the nor'easter that's headed our way. This covers for the threat of extremely dangerous/impossible driving conditions. Travel is not advised. Extensive and widespread closures are possible. Storm peaks Sunday night - Monday morning

While the search for a cure for PF continues, many currently available treatments for the disease have the potential to improve your quality of life and possibly extend it. Treatments for interstitial lung disease (ILD) are aimed at slowing the course of the disease, improving symptoms, and/or helping you stay active.

We are either getting a dusting or 6 feet of snow. It could go either way, but we should prepare for the worst- so make sure to get groceries, medication, and other necessities before Sunday evening. Take care of yourselves and check on neighbors. If you have to shovel, be smart-take breaks, hydrate, and use PLB. Keep your cell phones and portable oxygen batteries charged. Stay home, stay warm, and stay safe. ❄️☃️🌨️

NOR'EASTER ON THE WAY!

We continue to gain more confidence that a high impact storm will affect our area Sunday into Monday morning.

Winter Storm Watches have been posted across the area for this time period.

We have an AccuWeather Alert for Sunday & Monday

Timeline:
Sunday am into afternoon: light snow and rain showers, transitions to all snow by late afternoon. Roads just wet during this time as temperatures are above freezing.

Sunday evening/night: Peak of the storm with heavy, wet snow. Roads quickly become covered and travel difficult. This timing of the heaviest snow overnight leads to ideal conditions for accumulations.

Monday am: Light snow lingers and then exits. Roads will be a mess for the morning commute and many schools will be in virtual or canceled.

Key Impacts:
Possible blizzard conditions with thundersnow in southeastern NJ and southern Delaware thanks to very strong lift developing in the atmosphere.

This storm bombs out during the overnight on Sunday dropping from pressures in the 990s to the 970s as we get to Monday morning. This will make for a hurricane strength type storm.

Gusts along the coast likely reach 50mph.

Coastal flooding and beach erosion likely.

Saturday: Partly sunny skies. Great day to get outdoors! High of 50.

Sunday: Rain/snow showers turn to a steady wet snow by late afternoon and into the overnight. High of 39.
