💜Promote conversations with individuals:
One-on-one conversations are powerful tools for destigmatizing su***de.
🟣 Find a private space for the conversation. •Research shows that asking directly about su***de does not increase risk and can actually reduce it.
•Instead of asking if someone is thinking of “doing anything stupid,” you could say, “I’ve noticed you’ve been struggling lately. Sometimes when people feel overwhelmed, they think about ending their life. Are you feeling like this?”
🟣Listen without judgment and validate their feelings.
•Offer support and help them connect with professional resources, such as the 988 Su***de & Crisis Lifeline, and offer to make the call together.
•Follow up and check in with them.
