Just a Nudge

Neil deGrasse Tyson said recently that if an asteroid were on a collision course with Earth, you wouldn’t need to blow it up. Just a tiny nudge—a small adjustment in its path—would be enough to completely alter its course and avoid disaster entirely.

Now, let’s talk about you.

I had a pretty tough moment yesterday.

For about 20 minutes I felt sad that my Thanksgiving traditions are just never going to be a reality ever again. But I made a decision to let it slip away, with some grief, but also some relief.
No one, not even me, will be held to that standard again.

Holidays have a way of bringing up all the feelings.
But today is about you. Step back and reflect on your pov of yesterday, like an episode of a series.
✨ What story did yesterday unfold?
✨ What piece of that story do you want to keep
✨ Now, what’s ready to go?

Holidays can reveal so much about ourselves and give us such good stuff to work with to catapult growth, if we dare.

3-minute reset for growth:

1️⃣ Pause and just breathe.
2️⃣ Think of one moment yesterday that made you feel truly awake and alive. See it, feel it like you're there again.
3️⃣ What can you do today to recreate this feeling?

Take what nourished you and bring it into today. 🧡 Wash, Rinse, Repeat.

Last week I was feeling low and unsure of myself or my future.
I was ready to give up on my dreams and my goals. We've all been there, right?

This time was different, though. I caught myself in the act of telling myself this BS. With the little willpower I had, I realized I needed to do SOMETHING. I had no idea what, but I decided that today, I was just going to "show up." Step in any direction, as long as I stepped.

By the end of the day, I had created some amazing content, and later I spent quality time with people I love.

Here are those steps again, in case you didn't take notes:
✦ Step 1: Hear your thoughts as a listener, not the speaker.
✦ Step 2: Ask yourself what your future self is depending on you to do right now.
✦ Step 3: Show up.
✦ Step 4: Take a step in any direction, even if you don’t know where it leads. Just step.

No motivation? No problem. My very good friend and mentor once told me:
"Often, action comes before motivation." The path into the unknown becomes our greatest adventure.

Now, GET UP and take a step.

Soooo many people tell me they can't or don't know how to meditate.
Well, how many times have you been great at something the first time you tried it?

Besides
Meditation isn't just sitting quietly with your eyes closed!
Ever been reading such a good book, and paused for a moment to reflect on something you just read?
You just meditated.
Ever listened to song that was so good, you got entirely swept away by it until it was done?
You just meditated.

Regardless, for those who would like begin a practice of sitting meditation, here are 3 simple steps you can use that will help you get going.
