Can you spot the thyroid nodule? Through the use of elastography we are able to measure thyroid nodule tissue stiffness compared to thyroid tissue. Elastography is an ultrasound technology that has the potential to help distinguish benign from malignant thyroid nodules. 💙

What could this left neck lesion behind the thyroid gland be? 🔍🔍

With the help of elastography we can conclude that this is a parathyroid adenoma. As shown above, the dark blue on shear wave elastography color scale indicates lower (soft) tissue stiffness compared to the thyroid tissue.

Our research published with Endocrine European Society Journal shows in a prospective study of 2,100 patients that elevated Thyroglobulin Antibodies (TgAb) is an independent risk factor for thyroid cancer in patients with thyroid nodules. Please ask your doctor to check your TgAb and TPO Ab if you have a thyroid nodule, abnormal thyroid function, or family history of thyroid disease. 💙🧡
