Self-awareness is one of the most powerful parts of therapy.â

Itâs the moment when you start noticing patterns you didnât realize you were repeating â in relationships, in how you respond to stress, or in the way you talk to yourself.â

Sometimes clients come into therapy saying they feel like they are âtoo sensitive.ââ

But often what theyâre actually describing is something very different.â

They have been:â
⢠minimizing their own needsâ
⢠tolerating behavior that hurts themâ
⢠carrying emotional responsibility for everyone elseâ

When this happens for long enough, it can start to feel like your feelings are the problem.â

Theyâre not.â
â
Your emotions are information.â
Theyâre signals about what matters to you and where your boundaries may need attention.â

Therapy isnât about becoming less sensitive.â
Itâs about learning to trust your reactions and respond to them in healthier ways.â

Hey, my name is Kayla. Iâm a UNCW graduate who has worked in Wilmington, NC for four years counseling individuals and couples. I love what I do and feel like helping people improve their marriages, change careers, de-stress, or find happiness is a meaningful way to impact the community.
Working with my clients has taught me that you canât feel good just by thinking well. You have to live well everyday. You are not going to feel great if you eat crap. You are not going to feel motivated to play with your kids at the end of a long day if you hate your job. Healing is more than just improving your thoughts. I promote mind/body/spirit wellness with my clients and those who are willing to make the changes to their WHOLE self are the people who improve the fastest and feel the best.
This is a bootstrapped, locally owned and operated counseling center. We named our company âEvolutionâ because that is what we aim to do here. We want to help you evolve as people of the Wilmington community. We want to help our providers to evolve to specialize in the areas they are passionate about.
