Trauma therapy isn’t one-size-fits-all.

Trauma can affect the brain, body, emotions, and nervous system, which is why there are different treatment approaches designed to support healing in different ways.

In this carousel, we’re highlighting several evidence-based trauma treatments and what they’re commonly used for. Some approaches focus on processing memories, while others focus on building coping skills or regulating the nervous system.

Trauma treatment is not about reliving the past, it’s about helping the brain and body respond differently so reminders of the trauma no longer feel overwhelming.

A trauma-informed therapist helps determine which approach (or combination of approaches) best fits your needs, history, and goals.

Education is often the first step toward healing.

Is telehealth better than in-person therapy?

The short answer: it depends on you.
For some people, telehealth feels easier, no commute, more flexibility, and the comfort of being in your own space. For others, coming into the office feels grounding and helps them focus more deeply.

What matters most isn’t the format, it’s the connection, the consistency, and having a therapist you feel safe with.

At LMV Counseling, we offer both because healing doesn’t look the same for everyone. 💙

Before you act on the impulse, pause for a moment.

Sometimes the urge to react, fix, avoid, or push through comes on fast. Before doing anything, try taking one slow, deep breath. Just one.

Then gently check in with yourself. What is behind this impulse? Stress? Fear? Overwhelm? A need for rest or reassurance?

You do not have to judge it or change it right away. Noticing is enough. Breathing creates space. And in that space, you get more choice.

Why the hummingbird? 🐦✨

The hummingbird represents courage, flexibility, and resilienc, with a little joy mixed in.

It reminds us to stay present, adapt when life changes, and find moments of playfulness along the way.
Hummingbirds are often seen as messengers of love and optimism, encouraging us to slow down, release negative thoughts, and enjoy life as it unfolds.

A symbol of endurance, growth, and choosing joy… even in motion. 💙

Finding the right therapist matters. 💙

Therapy works best when you feel safe, heard, and understood.
The right therapist is someone you feel comfortable opening up to someone who respects your pace and your story.

It’s also important to consider availability, expertise, and the techniques they use. Different therapists bring different tools, and finding the right match can make a meaningful difference in your experience.

And remember, it’s okay if it takes time. Finding the right fit isn’t a failure; it’s part of the process.

You deserve support that truly works for you.

At LMV Counseling, we believe therapy should never be one-size-fits-all.

That’s why our practice brings together therapists with different specialties and approaches, all in one place. We work to match you with care that truly fits, whether you’re navigating anxiety, relationships, trauma, or life transitions.

Because your mental health deserves personalized support.

💭 What Does “Executive Function” Really Mean?

Executive function is like your brain’s management system — the set of mental skills that help you get stuff done. It’s how you plan, organize, focus, start tasks, stay on track, and follow through on what you intend to do. 🧠✨

When these skills are running smoothly, everyday life feels easier, from remembering appointments to juggling tasks and managing emotions. When they’re under strain, even simple routines can feel overwhelming.

In short, executive function is the brain’s way of helping you think ahead and act on your goals. 💪📅
