ADHD doesn’t look the same for everyone - and that’s exactly why proper assessment matters.

At Capeside Psychiatry, our team of three experienced providers offers ADHD assessments for children (6+), teens, and adults, so you can get answers that actually fit you (or your child).

We work with insurance, take the guesswork out of next steps, and help you understand what type of ADHD you’re dealing with - because clarity leads to better support and better outcomes.

If you’re grieving, it’s important to acknowledge your feelings are valid, and there is no “right” way to experience the holidays. However, there are strategies that can help you cope and manage your grief during this challenging time.

1. Acknowledge Your Grief: The holidays season can bring a rush of emotions, ranging from sadness to anger, confusion or even guilt. It’s essential to recognize that grief does not follow a set timeline, and it doesn’t disappear just because the calendar says it’s time for the celebration.

2. Honor Your Loved One’s Memory: One of the most healing ways to manage grief during the holidays is to find meaningful ways to honor the memory of your loved one. This could involve lighting a candle in their honor, hanging an ornament with their name on it or visiting a place that was special to them.

3. Take Care of Yourself Physically and Mentally: Grieving can take a toll on your physical and emotional well-being, especially during the holidays when stress levels may increase. It’s important to prioritize self-care by getting adequate rest, eating nourishing foods and engaging in physical activity, even if it’s just a short walk.

4. Allow Yourself to Feel Joy: Grief and joy can coexist. While it may seem difficult to feel happy or joyful when you’re mourning the loss of a loved one, it’s important to allow yourself moments of peace, laughter and even hope.

The holidays are never easy when you’re grieving, but they can become an opportunity to reflect, remember and find new ways to honor your loved one. Give yourself permission to grieve, to adjust your traditions and to lean on the support around you - and if you need a little extra help, we're here.

What an awesome event! 🛼💛
Skating at Scooters Family Skating Center, free raffles + prizes, and SO much pizza 🍕

Hosted by Capeside and Oxford House in NC, this event was all about reconnecting mothers in recovery with their children — and it was truly special to witness.

Huge thanks to Kristen Wilson, PA-C, from Coastal Carolina Care for speaking about her family primary care services. They accept Medicaid and offer telemedicine options!

Stay tuned for more community events coming in 2026 ✨

Feeling panicky in social settings isn’t a personal failure. It’s often your nervous system trying to protect you.

We’re all human. We all blush, overthink, say the wrong thing, or replay conversations later. Sometimes therapy can help with gentle reframes that shift how these moments feel. Other times, anxiety may be rooted in past experiences and benefit from additional support.

Social anxiety exists on a spectrum, and support can be tailored to what you need.
