How Often Should You Cut Your Hair After SMP?
If you have Scalp Micropigmentation (SMP), one of the biggest questions is how often you should cut your hair to keep it looking its best. For most people, the answer is every 2 to 3 days, depending on how fast your hair grows. It’s honestly trial and error, because everyone’s hair grows at a different rate.
In general, your SMP is usually going to look its best the same day you cut your hair. The reason is simple, SMP is a hair follicle replication, so it blends the best when your real hair is shaved down and matches that “fresh stubble” look. The goal is always to have your SMP blend seamlessly with your real hair, and the easiest way to do that is keeping your hair consistently short.
Most clients get the cleanest and most natural look by using T-liner clippers every few days to keep the hair tight and fresh. If you let your hair grow too long, you may start noticing more contrast between your natural hair and the SMP, especially if you have thinning or diffuse hair loss.
