Watching kids grow up in our Rec-n-Respite program is one of the most special parts of what we do, but sometimes it also means saying goodbye.

We’re celebrating an incredible young lady who has been part of Rec-n-Respite since she was 6 years old. Now at 14 she’s officially graduating from the program. Over the years we’ve watched her laugh, create, build friendships, and grow into the amazing person she is today.

Once Rec-n-Respite family, always Rec-n-Respite family. 🩷

Our downstate CAPS (Connections for Adoption and Permanency Supports) group meets in person THIS Friday at our Milford location from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.!

This is a great time to connect with other parents who understand your experiences, celebrate wins, or just to say hello and listen if sharing happens to be difficult right now. The simple act of sharing space with other parents who get it may be just what you need.

📩Email: training@abcfoc.org to RSVP! Dinner and childcare (ages 2+) are included!

New Workshop!
Understanding and Supporting Transracial Adoptees & Fosterees
TONIGHT @ 6:00 pm – 8:00 pm
via Zoom

Facilitators: Meg Garey, LPCMH/Executive Director, Celeste Bishop, Permanency Specialist, and Special Guest Issac Etter, Transracial Adoptee and Social Entrepreneur

Adopted at the age of two, Isaac Etter brings both lived experience and professional expertise to his work as the founder of Identity and Parenting Different.
Issac sparks honest conversations about how to support adopted children as we grow up. He equips parents with the tools and understanding needed to build families where adoptees feel seen, heard, and valued.

Join in as Issac shares with us his own transracial adoption experience and his practical guide to helping children develop healthy racial identities. We'll laugh and learn from Isaac's story of growing up as a "black boy in a white family". He'll outline a practical guide of what to do and conversations to have in every age group.

📩 RSVP today by emailing training@abcfoc.org

“Look for the helpers. You will always find people who are helping.”
- Fred Rogers

This Do More 24, you were one of those helpers. Thanks to your belief in kids and families, we made a huge impact together, raising $10,000 for our post-permanency programs! These programs support critical needs, like ensuring that youth who are no longer eligible for foster care services still have someone to walk beside them.

From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for stepping up, spreading the word, and making a real difference. Because of you, more children will have the support they need to thrive.

Workshop Series!
Brain-Body-Sensory Strategies that Really Work
This is a WEEKLY SERIES starting TODAY through April 15th.
via Zoom
Facilitated by: Amy Morgan, LPCMH, CPAT and Celeste Bishop, Permanency Specialist

We are so excited to once again offer this seven-part series created by Robyn Gobbel, based on her book, Raising Kids with Big, Baffling Behaviors. This course will help to demystify the most baffling behaviors. Your parenting toolbox will be stuffed with brain, body, and sensory strategies that actually work. You’ll grow your tolerance for baffling behaviors so you can parent the way that you want to. Seven weeks is a long time, we know! But you’ll join us and other parents from across Delaware for just one evening a week, you’ll come to develop the confidence to stay connected to your kids even in the face of the most bizarre and baffling behaviors.

Attendance at all workshops is strongly encouraged!
Dates include:
March 4th, 11th, 18th, and 25th
April 1st, 8th, and 15th

📩 RSVP today by emailing training@abcfoc.org.
