Myth: If it hurts, you shouldn’t train.

In most cases? That’s wrong.

Complete rest is rarely the answer. Your body doesn’t get stronger by doing nothing — it gets weaker. For the everyday athlete, deconditioning is its own injury.

The real goal is finding what your body can tolerate right now and starting there.

We don’t pull athletes out of training. We modify the load, fix what’s actually driving the problem, and keep them moving while we do it.

Movement is medicine. The dose just needs to be right.

Three things that keep athletes stuck in the injury cycle:

Treating the symptom instead of the cause.

Stopping treatment when the pain stops.

Never building back the capacity that broke down in the first place.

Pain going away is not the same as the problem being solved.

At Conquer Movement we don’t stop at pain relief. We keep going until you’re stronger and more resilient than you were before the injury.

That’s the difference between managing an injury and actually fixing it.

“We are here. We are waiting.”

03/23/2026

Rest removes the load. It doesn’t fix why your body couldn’t handle it.

If you’ve been sitting on an injury waiting for it to go away — and it keeps coming back — this is why.

The goal isn’t to stop moving. It’s to find the movement your body can handle right now and start building from there.

Active recovery beats passive waiting every time.

Sleep is our NUMBER 1️⃣ recovery tool when dealing with an injury or training hard! Here’s a few ways that you can better improve your sleep quality.

👉 Exercise during the day rather than close to bedtime
👉 Avoid caffeine and alcohol before bed
👉 Utilize relaxation techniques as you fall asleep
👉 Use a white noise machine or earplugs to drown out sounds and blackout curtains to reduce light

What other techniques have you tried for improving sleep?

Admittedly, firing your doctor is a bit dramatic. But here me out..

Whether you’re seeing a physician, a doctor of physical therapy, or another healthcare professional, their job isn’t just to treat your pain, it’s to find and address the root cause.

The problem? Too many providers focus only on the site of pain, ignoring the bigger picture. This leaves people stuck in a cycle of temporary relief, never truly solving the issue.

If all you’re getting is injections, dry needling, or cupping - without any effort to assess and treat the underlying cause - it’s time to move on. Find someone who understands that the body works as a whole, not just in isolated parts.

How you sit, stand, walk, and move between tasks matters just as much as your time in the gym.

If you want to stay strong, resilient, and pain-free for the long haul, movement has to be a non-negotiable part of your daily life. 🫡

Prioritize mobility, challenge your body in different ways, and make movement second nature.. not just something you check off your to-do list.

Your body will thank you for it today, tomorrow and the years to come! 💯

Stretching is just one piece of the puzzle. 🧩 That’s why when we get asked “What’s the best stretch I can do for xyz” ..it’s just not that simple.

While stretching is great and has its place, it’s only creating a temporary increase in range of motion. This is why it’s so important to follow up stretching with strength and stability work.

If you feel the constant need to stretch, there is likely a deeper problem and we’d love to help you address it so you can create lasting change, not just temporary.

Incorporate movement into your daily routine! Not just during your dedicated workout.

We have found that small bursts of movement throughout the day, or what we like to call “work snacks” and “mobility snacks”, can have a profound impact on improving your movement patterns, increasing strength and mobility and maximizing performance.

Think of “work snacks” as short, focused exercises you can do during the workday or daily life to start addressing specific deficits in strength or mobility.

These might include simple mobility drills, quick bodyweight stability exercises, or even strengthening movements that can be done at your desk or while waiting for your coffee to brew.

The concept of a “work snack” can be applied to any movement, but you may be more familiar with “mobility snacks” coined by Kelly Starrett, a highly influential Physical Therapist in the fitness world who we frequently reference at Conquer Movement.

“Mobility snacks” are short mobility-focused movements designed to target specific joints or areas of your body that might be prone to stiffness or discomfort, especially from prolonged sitting or repetitive movement.

These snacks are perfect for those who experience stiffness in the hips, shoulders, or lower back pain due to the nature of their work or lifestyle. 👊
