If you recognize some of these signs, a few gentle things that can help your nervous system begin to soften are:
• taking slow, longer exhales when you breathe
• unclenching your jaw and letting your tongue rest softly
• placing a hand on your chest or belly and noticing your breath
• stepping outside for a few minutes of quiet or fresh air
• giving your body moments of pause during the day
Small moments of awareness can begin to signal safety to the nervous system.
This is also the kind of work we explore in somatic healing sessions, where we gently listen to the body and support new patterns of regulation.
