Some moments stay with you long after the trip ends.

Nicaragua was one of those moments.

Through our partnership with Resplandece Internacional, 57 pastors from 57 different churches gathered across multiple cities to learn how to better understand and respond to abuse. What unfolded wasn’t just training—it was something deeper.

There were tears from those who quietly recognized their own stories.
There were moments of conviction as leaders began to see what they had missed.
There were honest questions about what care and protection should really look like.

And there was hope.

For the first time, Nicaragua now has trained Mending the Soul facilitators—men and women ready to walk with others on a journey toward healing. What was once a conversation… a hope… even a fragile dream… is now taking root.

One of the most powerful moments came as each participant held a small clay jar, cracked it, and slowly put it back together—filling the broken places with gold and placing a light inside.

A simple picture.
A profound truth.

God does not waste what has been broken.

The light is already shining through the cracks.

We’re raising funds to purchase laptops and smartphones for Mending the Soul trainers in Uganda and the Congo.

These leaders are actively leading trauma-healing groups and training others in communities where access to reliable technology can make all the difference.

Your gift helps place dependable tools into the hands of people already doing the work—expanding their capacity and multiplying healing.

It doesn’t take much. Any amount you’re able to give helps equip a trainer and extend hope.

When you equip a trainer, you equip everyone they serve.

A Link to Give will be in the first comment.

And that's that's scary. I often tell my students, uh, I spent 30 years teaching seminary students. Um I wonder, and we should all be asking ourselves, 50 years from now, what will Christians looking back say about our confident conclusions from scripture? Like, well, the the way I can look back 150 years ago and say, how could those Christians in the South have thought that? Yeah, but uh we're we're no less susceptible. And one of early in the book, I talk about um pre-w prerequisites for a healthy interpretation of scripture, and one of those is a receptive, humble posture.

Scripture tells us the pride that the protecting the vulnerable is at the heart of God. That is a mandate from scripture, and if we're not hearing that, uh you know, as as a uh a community, we're misreading scripture, and that happens all the time. My goodness, that happens.

When you’ve been wounded and no one believes you…
When you finally speak and people look right through you…
When the ones who should have protected you respond with silence, distance, or spiritual clichés…

That kind of suffering leaves you asking the question nobody wants to say out loud:
Does God even see me?

In this devotional, Dr. Steve Tracy reminds us of something Scripture shouts again and again:

God sees. God hears. God feels. And God responds.

Not with cold distance.
Not with spiritual platitudes.
With presence… compassion… and rescue.

If your heart is tired, if you’ve carried pain quietly, or if you’re learning how to trust again, this one is worth a few minutes of your time.

Editor's note: Enjoy today's devotion written by Steve Tracy, author of To Heal or to Harm: How Scripture Can Be Poison or Medicine to Abuse Survivors. * At the height of World War 2, Primo Levy, a brilliant Italian chemist, lost his job, home, and freedom. Solely because he was a Jew, Levy....
