One of the best things Iāve ever done for my career and businessā¦
Skill Stacking šš§
It wasnāt CEUs, more degrees, Certifications, or the alphabet soup after my name. š
It was spending 15-20 hours doing deep work and research on a topic or skill, then going out and trying it. šāāļøššš§«
It was learning how to write (English papers, essays, copywriting, scientific writing), learning improv (acting, musical theatre), public speaking (toastmasters, conference presentations, podcasting), marketing and advertising, sales, etcā¦etcā¦etcā¦
But it wasnāt just random topics of interest, it was pinpointed skill sets at specific times throughout my life and my journey that were going to move me forward in my quest towards mastery. š
Knowing what you need to know when you need to know it is key towards accelerating your timeline towards expertise and authority, and eventual mastery. š§
I am by no means a master educator or business owner, or card collector, or chess player, or golfer, but I am getting better every day by doing the research, then implementing. āļø šš»āāļø šØāš«
So find the thing you need to move you forward (even if itās just baby steps), do the hard work and deep work to really study it (books, YouTube university, courses), then implement and do the reps to experiment, even if itās just an N of 1, because that N of 1 is what self and personal development is all about!
This post was inspired by one of the best books Iāve ever read: The Cambridge Handbook of Expertise and Expert Performance. (I donāt recommend reading it unless you have to, because itās like a phonebook, just find a good summary) But if youāre trying to become an expert or authority in something, anything, start designing your plan and roadmap to get there eventually! šŗļøš
