“I’m scared my child is about to get kicked out of preschool.”

If that thought has crossed your mind — even once — this is for you. 💔

I talk to parents every day who are doing everything:
• adjusting schedules
• watching their words
• trying gentle parenting strategies
• advocating at school

And still… the calls keep coming. 📞
The meltdowns are bigger.
Preschool feels shaky.
And kindergarten suddenly feels terrifyingly close.

Here’s the verdict most parents never hear clearly enough:
This isn’t about a behavior problem.
And it isn’t a parenting failure.

What I see over and over again are kids whose bodies aren’t organized enough yet to handle what’s being asked of them.

When a system isn’t organized or stable, no amount of charts, rewards, or “calm-down” tools will stick,
not because they’re bad strategies,
but because the body isn’t available for them yet.

Many families are told the next step is a diagnosis.
And while a diagnosis can bring understanding or accommodations, it doesn’t actually help a child become more organized, more flexible socially, or move forward developmentally.

Those changes come from strengthening the foundation,
how the body and brain work together under stress, transition, and demand.

Meanwhile, parents are told to “wait it out.”
But waiting doesn’t help a child who is struggling right now.
And it doesn’t ease the fear parents feel when they can already see the future… and don’t like where it’s headed. 😔

That’s why I created The SkyClimb Method MasterClass.

It helps parents understand what’s actually driving the behavior and shows you where to start when nothing seems to be working, preschool feels unstable, and help feels out of reach. 🧭

If you’re exhausted from guessing and worried about what comes next,
you don’t need another strategy.
You need a clearer map.

🎄 What an incredible holiday gathering for our team!

A huge thank you to Dakota Glass Works and Mack's Bingo and the entire Wardensville community for creating an unforgettable experience, from hands-on glassblowing to a beautiful farm to table meal.

So impressed by the living classroom atmosphere these organizations foster through Farms Work Wonders, where youth get real opportunities to learn, create, and grow new skills.

Merry Christmas to all 🎄

Today marks 10 YEARS of SkyClimb! A full decade of growing, learning, and serving incredible kids and families. What started as a dream has now become a team of 10 (what a coincidence!) amazing occupational therapists working side by side to make life easier (and brighter!) for the children we serve.

And because milestones deserve new beginnings… our brand-new website launches today! 🚀

Even more special? On this same day, in this same space, our sister practice [Without Limits Speech] was born. 💙 Together, we’ve grown into something bigger, supporting families across speech and occupational therapy.

We couldn’t be prouder of the beautiful humans on our team and the families who’ve trusted us on this journey.

Here’s to the next 10 years of climbing higher! ☁️✨

Calm is contagious. “Reasoning” with your child (higher level brain function) doesn’t work when there is a traffic jam at the brain stem (lower level brain function). Calm yourself first, your child can feel that and find calm faster.

Ever tried reasoning with your child mid-meltdown—and got nowhere?

Here’s why:
When a child is dysregulated, it’s like there’s a traffic jam in their brain. Emotions have blocked the road, and nothing—not rewards, not consequences, not even your calmest logic—can get through.

What they need first isn’t correction.
It’s connection.

Help them clear the jam by offering co-regulation: a steady presence, deep breaths, or even just sitting quietly together. Once their “road” is clear again, then you can talk, teach, and guide.

Save this as a reminder: Calm first, teach later.
