When distressing events unfold, it’s common to feel shock, sadness, or helplessness. Psychological research shows that trauma can have both immediate and lasting effects—and that repeated exposure to upsetting news can also take a toll on mental health, even from afar.

Our Story

In the autumn of 2015, Cheryl Beaudoin-Stehlin and Todd Stehlin formed the Center for Counseling and Growth, PLC. Our first clients were seen in February of 2016 and, since that time, our Center’s therapists have been able to meet the needs of clients ages 5-75 years who have a variety of mental health issues. Opening the Center for Counseling and Growth was a natural progression for Cheryl and Todd after working a combined 40+ years in the counseling profession. From the beginning, our goal has been to serve the mental health needs of our community by offering evening and Saturday hours, as well as accepting a variety of insurances, including Virginia Medicaid. We believe in the importance of treating all of our clients and community partners with dignity, respect, and professional courtesy.
