Following new federal guidance, Virginia households that received VENA in November and partial SNAP benefits Nov. 13 will receive the remaining amount of their SNAP benefits by Tuesday, Nov. 18. Those who did not receive VENA will receive their full SNAP benefit on Saturday, Nov. 15.

December benefits are expected to return to the normal issuance schedule (on the 1st, 4th or 7th day of the month). With the end of the federal shutdown, VDSS does not anticipate any further disruptions to SNAP benefits in 2025, and no additional VENA benefits are expected at this time.

Essential safety tips for the winter months

❄️🌬☃️Virginia, Are You READY for the FREEZE Tonight?❄️🌬☃️

Here’s just a few tips on how to stay safe:

Carbon Monoxide (CO) safety: have C0 detectors on every level, test monthly, replace when needed; never ever run generators indoors.⏲

Heating: follow manufacturer guidelines, keep pets and kids away, turn off and unplug heaters when unattended. Never ever plug a heater into an extension cord or power strip as a fire can result! 🔥 Clear vents and ensure proper ventilation for heating devices. If you smell gas (smells like rotten eggs) or hear a hissing sound from gas appliances, evacuate and call 911.

Pipes: Insulate exposed pipes, open under-sink cabinet doors, and let faucets run a slow drip during extreme cold.💦

Our Story

In the autumn of 2015, Cheryl Beaudoin-Stehlin and Todd Stehlin formed the Center for Counseling and Growth, PLC. Our first clients were seen in February of 2016 and, since that time, our Center’s therapists have been able to meet the needs of clients ages 5-75 years who have a variety of mental health issues. Opening the Center for Counseling and Growth was a natural progression for Cheryl and Todd after working a combined 40+ years in the counseling profession. From the beginning, our goal has been to serve the mental health needs of our community by offering evening and Saturday hours, as well as accepting a variety of insurances, including Virginia Medicaid. We believe in the importance of treating all of our clients and community partners with dignity, respect, and professional courtesy.
