A written safety program is the backbone of any company’s safety policy. Firstline Safety is here to help establish and implement all aspects of this often time consuming and confusing process. We customize your safety program to cover only the regulations that apply to your specific trade and operations.

We have converted the OSHA regulations into layman terms to make it easy to convey your policies to your employees. A compact field manual is also provided for distribution to your field personnel. The manuals are designed in a notebook format to make it easy to update your program as regulations are added or change.

Happy Snow Day Everyone! In construction safety is important especially when it comes to the snow due to slippery surfaces. Here are 7 winter safety tips for construction sites:

1. Be aware of the weather forecast: keep track of the local weather to avoid sending your employees out into a blizzard.

2. Limit exposure to the elements: when there’s high winds or snow schedule outdoor work in shorter time blocks.

3. Require proper gear: make sure your employees are wearing the correct gear to keep them warm.

4. Review the worksite daily: take a look to make sure any loose debris is removed, there isnt ice that could fall and hit someone, etc.

5. Remove snow and ice: this will help avoid anyone slipping and falling on the jobsite.

6. Inspect and prepare vehicles: make sure all vehicles are fully functioning and have all the equipment needed in case of getting stuck or other emergencies.

7. Educate employees on the signs of frostbite and hypothermia: knowing the symptoms of these two first aid emergemcies and how to treat them could save a life!

We “walk” the job with your site superintendent, project manager or foreman and advise of corrective measures that should be taken to comply with governing standards.

Photographs are taken of any safety issues and are sent with a written report explaining the situation to the company’s management. The purpose of these inspections is to find the issue and allow for corrective measured before an incident occurs or OSHA visits the jobsite.

Today, OSHA announced a new Emergency Temporary Standard on Vaccination and Testing. Here are four things you need to know:

• Employers with at least 100 employees will be required to adopt a mandatory vaccination policy unless they adopt a policy requiring unvaccinated workers to undergo weekly testing and wear a face covering at work.

• Covered employers must provide paid time for workers to get the COVID-19 vaccine and ensure workers have paid sick leave to recover from any side effects that prevent them from working.

• Employers must comply with most provisions by 30 days after the date of publication in the Federal Register, and comply with the testing requirement by 60 days after the date of publication in the Federal Register.

• Businesses that don’t comply may face significant OSHA fines.
